You could have lowered the camera and made a dik and balls with those rocks, I'm disappointed you didn't, but more disappointed in myself for pointing this out

Very cool pic! The foreground looks like a photograph, and the background looks like a painting (especially the sun). Truly an “Oh, wow!” photo!

It’s a skier thing, but I’m just referring to the kind of people that visit donner in general.

Nice picture. I've been through Bala many times. Bit of a nowhere place but it's got some pretty surroundings. Beware the speed van on the way to Traws.

I’d guess because the cost of living is insane and there are like 6 businesses, all of which pay close to minimum wage. It’s also insanely over populated in the summer, filled with obnoxious gaper tourists who can’t drive, park, or even just be a courteous human being.

Yes! Higher altitude, but much easier to cross in wagons.

I use that name when eating at fine restaurants near the summit, so they can announce, "Donner party?" But they never do, lol, like they're sick of the joke.

Nopers. Sierra Nevada is a Spanish phrase, already plural, translating to "snowy mountains." So when you tack an "s" on the end you're saying "mountainss." Even old timers got it wrong.

I was a ranger there last summer. Go prepared for large crowds and next to impossible trailhead parking scenarios. You'll need a pass not just to enter the park, but also one for Going to the Sun Road because visitation has gone through the roof and that road was never built with that amount of traffic in mind. Luckily, though, if you don't get a pass and don't want to deal with the trailhead parking issues, you can take the free public shuttle. It's pretty convenient and even though I lived inside the park, I'd use it to get to trailheads on my days off.
Also consider camping or staying on the east side of the park. Much quieter!
