The mountain in the back is called Machapuchare. The peaks in the front aren't probably considered their own mountains at all. Could be that they aren't really peaks either, but start of a ridge.
Not sure if the valley has a name, but the river at the bottom is called Modi.

We embarked on a road trip through one of the most sensitive regions of China’s most sensitive province. Outside the edge of ancient Kuqa, standing alongside the noisy highway, we are attempting to ascend into the land of nomads by hitchhiking. They are the northern realms of Xinjiang graced by the Tianshan (Heavenly) and Altai (Golden) Mountains - a place of itinerants with their golden eagles, rolling green meadows set against snowy peaks, and landscapes of the bluest alpine lakes and granite towers dotted with cozy yurts. Kazakhs, Mongols, Uyghurs and Altais have shared these lands for thousands of years.
Our ambition as simple passerby’s is to just glimpse their way of life. A question lingers: do they still hold to those legendary traditions, or are they now merely a remnant of the past?

Nope, the chair lifts are located about 9 miles NE of Mt. Baker itself. The mountain proper is almost entirely on wilderness land, so there’s literally nothing there besides a few dirt roads to get you to the base, and some hiking trails that are covered in snow anyway if you’re skiing it during peak season (spring). Its also covered in crevasses so people generally rope up for the climb (but not for the descent). Climbing and skiing it is very much a long ski mountaineering day. The cool thing is timed right you can ski continuously from the summit to your car for about 8,000 vertical feet of descending.

I skipped the text and said “heh, another mountain valley that looks like Whoville.”
Oh look at that, someone else sees it too.

It definitely is that conical from this angle, you just aren’t used to seeing it from this perspective.

I feel that. Think of anything you'd buy locally and add around 20-50% on top. However, you can definitely keep it a bit cheaper. But the place and people are absolutely wonderful. As an aside, out of curiosity I peeped some of your other shots, and, holy hell, you have an incredible eye! You would do that island justice for sure! Hope you can get out there, friend!
