I’ll be honest, it’s probably my least favorite major camping type spot. I do love some of the photos tho

No, and now I probably never will, but photographs like yours give me an impression of it

Sounds pretty good, brother. For Americans. Your country is a well-kept secret. Probably better to keep it that way.

Slovenian here. When it comes to nature, we don't have the highest highs or the lowest lows, but anywhere you go, it's very pretty overall. It's beautiful on average, all across the country. Of course some places do stand out.

Fair enough, lol. I'm from Minnesota, so I'm a bit more used to it, but that's still the coldest weather I've ever camped in. It definitely wasn't easy leaving my sleeping bag in the morning.

If you like desert landscapes, granite boulders and weird plants. Joshua Tree is the place to go. Watch out for the Cholla Cactus relentlessly evil spikes.

As someone from AZ, I stopped reading after "freezing at night". Haha

I've only been once, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. That said, visiting in early September worked out really well for me. I got fantastic colors and saw a ton of wildlife, from caribou (see the image in my other comment), to moose, and even a lynx.
The only downside is that the weather can be a bit gross at that time. It was below freezing at night and rained every day of my trip. I was fine with camping in that weather, but it might be an issue for some people. The advantage of the weather is that it keeps the crowds considerably smaller than at peak.

Same here with not seeing the peak. I can't be upset, though. The rain and clouds kept the light nice through the middle of the day, so I had a lot better luck with wildlife, which was the main focus of my visit.

I’m with you there! I didn’t get to see the peak too well because it was too hazy. The views of the other landscapes were just as amazing.

It’s too damn hot for a penguin to just be walking around here
