Shugemery is a big time BWCA hiker and paddler. Goes by Shug. Guess it wasn’t him!

Leave it to the Moose whisperers. Hope you have some good memories of the walleye shore lunch.

How low did the lake get this year? Was there in 2021 and they to stop all the ferries. Jackson lake was quit low, too.

Oh my gosh I can see myself getting lost in here. Somebody finds my skeleton slumped over in my canoe in June

I spent a week in there, with friends, 30+ years ago, I think we had 4 canoes 2 people to canoe, it's so beautiful, almost untouched by man. By end of day two, we were so engrossed with all the natural beauty it was basically: society? What society? Were the only society here! The Forest Service warned us, do not go into a moose's feeding area, they will use force to make you go away, and they are much bigger in real life than pictures, and if you cross them, people have been seriously hurt, several killed through the years, So, let the moose dine in privacy, and go catch a big walleye instead. Only so many people are allowed in on any day or week, it's a very popular place, get your entry permits early as possible, or you'll end up on next year's list. But it's a huge chunk of land, In my week up there, I only saw 2 other canoes the whole time, other than my group's. You can canoe right into Canada, no fences, no border lines.

Sounds like a great Summer. It's Hungry Jack + Bearskin Lake looking North.

Believe that. The Grand Portage border crossing was closed and under major construction this particular weekend. Flew over Quetico and drooled the whole time.

Is this Moose Lake? About 20 minutes outside of Ely?
I know there are a ton of places it could be, this shot just looked familiar. I worked for a summer up there years ago.
SpiderFarter t1_iz2rz6g wrote
Amazing place. A bit less traffic in adjoining Quetico though.

Quite the natural maze. There are great cabins and campgrounds that make a lot of the entry lakes accessible for day trips. The whole North Shore is a special spot.

I don't really have a frame of reference tbh with you as this was the only time I've been and we only stuck around for a few days, but Jackson Lake was basically non-existent. A few ponds scattered around
