I spent a week in there, with friends, 30+ years ago, I think we had 4 canoes 2 people to canoe, it's so beautiful, almost untouched by man. By end of day two, we were so engrossed with all the natural beauty it was basically: society? What society? Were the only society here! The Forest Service warned us, do not go into a moose's feeding area, they will use force to make you go away, and they are much bigger in real life than pictures, and if you cross them, people have been seriously hurt, several killed through the years, So, let the moose dine in privacy, and go catch a big walleye instead. Only so many people are allowed in on any day or week, it's a very popular place, get your entry permits early as possible, or you'll end up on next year's list. But it's a huge chunk of land, In my week up there, I only saw 2 other canoes the whole time, other than my group's. You can canoe right into Canada, no fences, no border lines.
