Thanks man. I just say in that spot for about 2 hours and watched the sun set. It was pretty magical.

Well shit now I’m a little homesick. I’m from the North Shore and won’t be home for Christmas. Some people (cough my spouse) don’t understand the appeal of this place. The total remoteness… the world gets quieter and you can just hear your own heart and thoughts… gah. Getting more content living in the PWN (also incredible wilderness) but northern Minnesota is special.

Do you have a higher resolution version? I'd love to use it as a wallpaper.

I worked at a summer camp notorious for prancing the groups returning from long trips to the BWCAW. You can imagine how difficult it was for them to believe that Michael Jackson had actually died while they were gone.

Why is it whenever I see posts like this I start looking through the comments assuming I’m going to know somebody? Spent my “bachelor party” in the BWCAW with my brother and the first evening of the trip under a poorly anchored tarp getting absolutely drenched. Great times.

Wild returning to that news. Similar experience driving back from a week truly off the grid in Northern Ontario-learned Anthony Bourdain was gone.

I was there when Elvis Presley died and obviously our group had no clue. It was so odd coming back into the world after this monumental thing had happened.

Secret benches? I took it all the way from Prairie Creek Visitor Center, through Fern Canyon, to the ocean and back. I do recall seeing at least one engraved/dedicated bench along the trail, but was unaware of any Easter eggs to look for.
That was my first time seeing the Redwoods, so I decided the highest rated trail was a good place to start and I was completely blown away wandering around amongst those stoic, majestic monoliths. Absolutely amazing.

I used to go out of Canadian Border Outfitters on Moose lake but I think they closed down during Covid. This year we went through Williams and Hall and they took us up Moose up close to Prairie Portage. Then we went in from there.

Be sure to swing through Virginia on your way north. A visit to Canelake’s Candies, Minnesota’s oldest candy store, is always a good idea. Yum!
