I live in the Appalachian mountains ( western NC ) 3 rule's in the mountains. never go out at night because I am pretty sure that the SCP foundation is stationed there or you might get shot because we are very republican and like to hunt for food and heck of it. 2 if you are atheist do not and I repeat do not talk about it because you will probably have a 2 hour argument about the bible and etc. btw we are really nice. 3 don't talk bad about guns here because either a. you get shot or b have a argument the whole afternoon and get shot or left in a bodybag or just hate each other for life. those are my 3 rule's happy holidays and have a good day.

Seeing the election maps from the midterms I believe it ;)
But, in the same way whenever I've been to big cities on the East Coast they believe the State of Washington is Alaska, I don't believe there aren't parts of the Eastern Seaboard that aren't 10K people per square mile.
But then, I also don't believe in ghosts, and YET, I still choose believe the Appalachian Mountains are haunted.
And it's still a great picture.

The Appalachians are actually pretty sparsely populated outside of the cities

I live in the Pacific Northwest, and even though the East Coast seems WAY more crowded than here, I've always somehow seen the Appalachians as way more mysterious and desolate than the Cascades.
I dunno if it's because they're geologically older, or because of the ghost stories surrounding them, but regardless, they seem so old.
I really like this pic, it really carries what I think of when I think of the Appalachians.

Looks shallow for tubing, unless you like a fractured coccyx… kayaking, though!

It's a must. I have some even better ones from this trip that I'll share later. You will certainly not be disappointed. Better hiking IMO and def fewer crowds than Rainier.
