Except that right now, language models are generating plausible, but inaccurate output. It can only work with the data its given. Maybe it will never get better than that. The alchemists kept thinking that they were going to get gold from lead if they worked at it long enough. We are still waiting.

Because AI doesn't exist yet. These machines are not "smart" ,they mimic speech based on probability and patterns found on the web. The whole point of this post was to ask if anyone knew of peer reviewed scientific evidence that we will ever break through to AI, and all the other things that people think will come from that.

You need about 3 times more mining/drilling and processing of oil if we don't get there. Going to EVs is a net reduction in overall mining operations, but it shifts the demand to processing more lithium, copper, some nickel and some rare earth metals for magnets.

People in general are loyal to whoever pays them. Or better, whoever provides resources to them.

Therefore, people are loyal to the capitalist system for they get paid. They can sell their time in exchange for things that they like.

You can see it this way, 5% unemployed are "scumbags" in the eyes of "honorable" people. 20% unemployed would be an army hunting for resources.

UBI would ne necessary to stop the poor from attacking the rich, not out of kindness, but out of necessity.

Humans, after all, when all ks said and done, sre animals. And the name of the game is survival.

Like any other species shade their skin or add more fur in cold weathers, do our body know what suitable height and weight is to adapt to our surrounding?

Not sure if this is good or bad. Is it just the next step in evolution and humans are now pets or worse cattle?

What I want to say with this is that the future of labour as a whole would consist of performing your current job with AI assistance correcting your mistakes and reminding you of every relevant factor in the decision making proccess in order to both produce less flawed results and make things in shorter spans of time. This would potentially lead to either shorter work schedules or overall higher productivity and with greater advancements in AI eventually to both and as AI assistance becomes widespread this could also lead to a rise in consumption as well. Also an argument could be made about how learning to interact with the AI assistent means higher wages should be given.

Why would you harass foster parents? If you take the kids away, where do you put them?

My father was a judge and personally visited foster parents homes to see if everything was allright. But he could only do so much, for if pressed hard enough the parents just told him to take the kids if he wants them. Take them where? The courthouse?

There are reports that trucking companies can't find drivers for they put cams in trucks. Nobody likes to be surveiled 24/7. No foster parent will agree to have AI surveilance in their home either.

You have to realize that people have limited money. Of course the best way to go would have been to buy the house, insulate the roof, the walls, change all windows and the heating at the same time.

But we can't afford that. So we start with the point that saves us the most money, is mandated by the government and subsidized by 50%.

At this point, we have costs for heating of about 1500€ a year. Upgraded roof insulation could bring that down to 1000, but would cost approx. 30k so it would pay for itself in 60 years at current prices, at that time I am 97. Walls have a similar ROI, Windows are worse.

Well insulate the roof when we redo the tiles, we'll insulate the walls when we renew the paint,... And when we are done with that, we probably approach end of life of the heat pump anyway.

Oh, and by the way, energy efficiency class C(after renos) or D (before the renos) is nowhere near as bad as you claim it is.
