No. This is a new tree growing out of an old dead tree. This meme is bullshit and if you’re using this to somehow motivate it’s time to get your head out of your ass.
You get one life. One chance. One attempt to live. You can change course or try new things, but you never get to “start over”. You get to try again, but you’re usually old and wiser. You can never go back, you can never truly try again.
This meme is shit and anyone buying it is a moron. Fix your shit. If your ship is off course then correct it. Fix your life, don’t use garbage like this as some sort of symbolism for who you are.
OP fucking garbage repost.

What actually happens in this situation as the tree grows? Will it be able to expand and grow with all that dead wood hemming it in?

I don’t care what tree that is, it’s never going to be strong with shallow roots. It needs good dirt. So when you go through dirt in life, it’s making you stronger.

If people will lie to motivate people what else will they lie about. The next thing you’re going to tell me is that politicians lie to get votes.

Not really. Can't become an engineer, can't do many many things I wish I had the opportunity to do thanks to my lack of money during my younger years and are now constrained by age.

That's a shame. Some of my favorite things to have ever seen firsthand in nature are trees growing out of stumps or rocks

Often it's not a matter of more vs less pedantic, but rather how familiar a person is with the subject matter. How distracting a flawed analogy is depends on how familiar the reader is with the topic.
If I say to you "If you work hard at it, one day you too can grow from a tiny shack to a magnificent skyscraper" are you going to go "that's just a loose analogy and I feel motivated"? Or are you going to go "Umm, that's not how that works"?
Some readers have as much familiarity with trees as you do with buildings.
