For those who don't know, a loss leader is a product that supermarkets actually sell at a loss in order to entice people to come into their stores. Most stores that I go to have rotisserie chickens for somewhere between $7 and $10. The same size chicken would be more than that if you went to the back of the store and bought it raw.
