Eh. I took like 4 days of PTO and have been off since the 23rd and will be going back on the 3rd. It’s like back in the old days of school when I had 2 weeks of for winter break. Chilling around Christmas and new years is great. My job is the kind that’s randomly slow throughout the year though. So holiday slow is like whatever.

Don’t take Mirapex or Requip….trust me….look up side effects! When I had side effects, my current doctor at the time didn’t believe me and told me it was not the meds! I went to get a second opinion and doctor immediately started taking me off the Mirapex….my side effects improved quickly! I was off meds in about a month and by the end of the second month I was off meds a month and side effects were completely gone ! But…..I needed a new RLS medicine and so I was on pain meds until the doctor could figure out what he should try me on, since I had already taken all the RLS at one time or another! It’s crazy but now I’m taking Tramadol of all things! And two more meds for RLS! I have it severely and I have it all over my body except my head! And guess what ? I still have some RLS! The meds I have to take nightly (every single night) and they help some or I would have RLS probably all the time!!! Mine is genetic! And it’s so severe at times, I look like I’m have a seizure! It embarrasses my husband especially when we are in the car. Which flavor of pickles do you take? Sweet? Sour? Hamburger pickles? I’d try this! Believe me I would try most things….anyone try Acupuncture? If so did it help?

I wish you and your feline friend the best. May you both find peace. I lost my best friend to this a couple years ago now, and something that helped me was the fact that to euthanize is Greek for ‘good death’; is the practice of intentionally ending life to eliminate pain and suffering.

Got to a point where it almost seemed selfish for me to let my buddy go on the way he was, in a state similar to your cats, because it was me who was scared to let go, and I think that’s what kept that final thread attached for so long. It was his time and I was not ready for it, it was a miracle he was still kicking really, but it was not a good existence for my buddy, I had to learn to let go so that he could as well.

Exactly. I managed two people with younger kids, so by me covering the holidays they could take family time off. I use the week between Xmas & New Year's to clean out my inbox and hopefully start out the year with it empty. Currently rewriting some code onto a new system, and having full days with no interruptions are priceless!

Just a quick outline, but this is what I do:

  1. For each project you have responsibilities for, create a project plan to lay out the project timing line and tasks. This can be a subset of the larger project plan focusing on your areas of responsibility. I use a simple spreadsheet for this.

  2. Prioritize the projects and the tasks. Discuss with your boss if there are conflicts or the priorities aren’t clear.

  3. Create an overall execution tracker with the tasks prioritized and the expected completion date. Keep it focused on daily/weekly execution, but also keep in mind the overall schedule and project commitments.

  4. Set up weekly meetings with the team lead, your team, and key stakeholders to review progress, help needed, and commitments. The teams may already have regular meetings set up, but if they don’t, you’ll have to do it.

  5. Set up regular meetings with your boss to review progress and make sure your priorities align with the business priorities. This should be a formal 1:1 to make sure progress and priorities are fully discussed.

  6. Provide a weekly written summary of your progress to the team leads, your boss, and any key stakeholders.
