Reply to LPT Request: How do you negotitate on secondhand items that are close to NEW prices by skunksmasher
The market for EVERYTHING is just bananas now. I remember being a kid (BACK IN MY DAY, shouts the old man), and just assuming everything you took possession of lost half its value the moment it became yours. I’ve been guitar window shopping, and people/shops are asking 2600 bucks for guitars that sold for 2800 new.

If they are highballing, then lowball them and see if you can meet in the middle. Usually, I just pass on listings like that. The sellers often don't realize what used prices are.

I found this out by accident a few months ago. Absolutely changed my life.
Well, no, it didn't, but it's still pretty cool.

If you're used to city noise and find living outside the city too quiet, get a white noise app/machine to help you adjust to the reduced background noise level. It can be very difficult to get restful sleep when moving into a new environment and it gets compounded if the background noise level is drastically different.

I think it is better to announce them, as it makes them more official. There's more "consequence" for not following through. If you don't announce them, then give up after a week, no one knows. That makes it easier to abandon.

Social psychology research tells us that public goals are much more likely to be achieved than secret ones. Telling people is a form ofmsocial discipline. Tell a friend and have a friend tell you. imo.

As a medical professional, I can confidently say that most people on the internet claiming "my OCD this, my OCD that" are actually self-diagnosed or try to demonstrate above average tidiness. You are a rarity.

That is the thing. If you watch it like it was entertainment (and that is how many television news organizations treat it), then that is fine. I think OP is talking to people who obsessively watch the news, and that is the danger.
Humans conflate anecdotes with verifiable facts, and "saw it on the news" affects how many humans think about the world. Missing out on the one story about the guy halfway across the country murdered ten people does not have any negatives, where hearing about the story mentally increases your "people are murderers" counter. The world is much safer than the news would have you believe, and that is what the news organizations want you to think.
There is an old adage from the newspaper days, "if it bleeds, it leads". Bloody violence always gets the most prominent position, since that sells more newspapers/gets more viewers/listeners, which sells more ads, which makes the news organization more money.

The news isn't ahead of Google maps. Maps is literally live as long as other people have phones in their car with the app on their phone. Which you guessed it even if 1/2 of the people have the app it will still give very accurate information as it tracks everything.

So if I touch my dick and shake your hand immediately after you’re good? If someone pisses on your leg it’s fine? Your genitals are a warm, moist area that is a breeding ground for bacteria. Wash your hands after you pee 100% of the time.

I watch it on and off but it does make me feel anxious at times. It’s literally like watching Entertainment Tonight sometimes. They just tell you the news they think you should know and why is it never ever positive
