LPT: Only drink water or tea; you'll live a lot longer and have a better time at the dentist.

I’m always disappointed when I find out my boss is taking the same days off as me. I would’ve just worked if I knew they weren’t going to be there lol.

DIFFERENT OFFICES HAVE DIFFERENT CATALOGUES!
Some have foot imprints, some don't - some have headstones for example. If you know the time is coming, look for options.
I dearly wish I had gotten a footprint of my first pet who passed away but they didn't offer it there and I didn't even know it was an option until the passing of my second.

This is one of the reasons people love WFH so much. My boss has no idea what I’m doing throughout the day. As long as my output reflects 40 hours worth of work each week, they don’t know (nor probably even care) when and how long my lunch is. It’s also the reason a lot of bad bosses hate WFH- they can’t micromanage an employee’s time as easily (unless it’s a job where you’re on camera or the phone all day).

That’s literally not what he’s saying at all. They are saying take your one hour lunch 30 minutes earlier so that you basically get an hour and a half lunch. He’s telling people to steal time.

This is another misconception that people have… in a drink filled to the top with ice, the ice actually melts slower and waters the drink down less than than one filled with mostly beverage and like .5 or .25 ice.

>the soda dispensed from fountain machines are designed to be slightly diluted with ice
This is patently false.

I too am a no ice kinda person. It tastes like watered down sadness with all that ice.

Same. OP mentioned relaxing for an extra half hour- not staying on lunch for an extra half hour.

I just googled it. Damn, how deep some people are drowning in commercialism that they feel the need to spend money on stuff like this.

Without sounding too obvious, I think the boss definitely does not stand behind him or her with a whip. But I’m in a similar situation, I work in a small office and when my boss isn’t around the professionalism definitely slows down a bit. A nice change of pace.

Good advice! When my mom’s cat of nearly 18 years passed away, my mom had her freeze-dried/dehydrated and now she sits on a pillow in the house and my mom pets her throughout the day. I think that was close to $1200.

Geewhiz I wish there were some sort of law that protected laborers. Almost like some sort of “labor law.” The government should create a Department of Labor. Then that way it would be a legal requirement that you get to take a break. That would be too weird though, right? /s

“Our lunch breaks are stagger to prevent wasting time. Mines at 10:30 and I find that the first hour of the day goes by a lot quicker than the second 7 hours.”
This reminds of The Office episode where Dwight is (Acting) Manager.
