Reply to LPT Request: How to read a book without getting distracted and wandering off? by masterddit
You have to build focus like a muscle.
Social media, phones, constant distractions have destroyed the ability to focus.
Your phone is making you stupid. This is just a visceral effect you notice. But it is making you stupid in so many other areas.
You want to focus thru a whole book? Then trade your smart phone in for a flip phone.

Im hoping I can find some of the vha home movies my mom had of our old birthdays. I want my nephew to see and hear his grandma. She died 4 years before he was born. She'd have lost her goddamn mind over that kid. I miss her.

I have four VMs saved on my account, three of which are from my dad who passed in 2016. They're about absolutely nothing, and it's not quite how I remember his voice from the first 30 years of my life, but goddamn do I value having them to hear him again.

Yes, definitely worth it, but they are not all made the same. Some can still be too hard, soft, high, low, etc, so can still involve some trial and error.

Hi, I'm a 62 year old guy and I bought a pregnancy pillow, 4 years ago. For Just this reason, it worked wonders. It's like a big cocoon that surrounds you. It's very adjustable to your liking by adding or removing stuffing from anywhere around the pillow shape. Looks like a big ole pillow horseshoe. The included cover unzips and is washable. I can't believe more men don't know about this. I told my mailman and he got one, says he sleeps way better with a lot less tossing and turning.

A lot of companies are offering virtual card numbers that you can cancel right after that single transaction. Much easier than buying a physical card number at a store.

I live in Europe. Say you sign a contact with an internet provider for a period of 2 years. You pay each month in advance. If you stop paying, they will turn off your internet (that you already paid for, in advance for next month). After a few months of not paying, they will apply the contract clause which will cancel the contract but also charge you for getting out of contract. You can decide not to pay ever and the ISP won't sue you or send your issue debt collectors (not worth it for a few euros and also bad PR for being aggressive) but instead they will wait...and in the future you might move to another town or just a different neighborhood that only has internet services available in the area from THAT specific ISP. You won't be able to sign a new contract untill you have paid what you owed (they don't apply interest). At least this is how it goes in my country with subscriptions.
Using a card with no money on it would have the same effect of not paying. You can even remove the card all together from their payment app. Heck my bank allows me to generate new virtual Visa cards that I can use and then discard.
