Uuugggghhhhh Yes!

Although I did have someone drop a gallon, it cracked... they put tape on it and carefully put it in the trash with the cut side up.... it get covered with more trash. Go to take the bag out, it it pretty heavy and has 8 inches of liquid at the bottom.

There was a lot of cursing that night and thankfully that brain trust did not last long.

The only exception I can think of would be giving an Uber (or similar service) gift card to e.g. a student relative. I know you are going to go out partying and here is $100 you can not use for anything except getting home safely.

Yes, yes, I know they could sell it for cash if they really wanted to, but the point here would be to force encourage them to spend the money the way I, in my infinite wisdom, have decided is best for them.

Clorox wipes are a good place to start, they are “wasteful” but get you into the habit of wiping stuff up and cleaning. Also safe to use in most places kitchen bathroom etc. don’t feel like mopping up that weird sticky spot on the floor. Toss a few of those on the floor. Prefect for wiping around the sink and stove to get up grease and food bits. Yes there are more eco friendly options but if you just want to start getting into the habit I highly suggest those :)

There's a ton of great advice in this thread already! Me and my classmates have also found the same thing, getting no responses from lots of applications. I've found a great job now though, so my piece of advice to add to this great pile of advice is:

Keep at it! You'll find something! It will take time and it certainly gets depressing to put lots of effort into each application just to get ignored, but it will work out if you do your best and keep at it.

There is balance in everything. I cannot stand sitting still and doing nothing, nor can I do most things without brain stimulation.

I listen to YouTube while I clean. You don't need to watch most videos to enjoy them.

I have a waterproof speaker. I use it while I do self care, so I can shower and shave while listening to music or videos.

Similar ideas for working out. I have a TV mounted across from my treadmill so I can zone out watching something.

For things like studying, find some instrumental music and suck on a peppermint.

For things like relationships, planned activities are best. You can sit and just talk to your friends or SO, but this is easier for me to do when we are actively doing something.

Social media is easy, if you are willing to be strict. Get a notepad, and when you feel like a social media is benefitting you, write it down and why. Same for when it's getting in the way. Do that for a few weeks and you will likely naturally stop using them as much. Then, when you see that Fbook, Twitter, TikTok, and Insta aren't helping you you can delete them. I deactived the accounts, so I'd have to start over if I wanted to use them.

As for games, I don't tell anyone to not play games. I play lots of games. But, it's better, if you can afford it, to play games on a system and keep them off your phone. That way when you decide to play a game, it's a decision you made and not a convenience.

When I was in restaurants some of the take out containers would always have a defect so that they weren't the best for customers (or if they just got dropped on the floor while stocking). We marked these (red sharpie up all side of a stack -10 seconds) and kept these near the big trash cans. We trained everyone to dump broken glass or metal into these and seal before dropping in a bag.

Same goal achieved.

Because they might be good people that want to help out, if its a known person its really a no brainer for me, now if its an unknown then it is risky both ways.

But it is a bit sad that we have to fear doing good things these days, sometimes I see people that most likely are going my way and could use a ride, but I don't because I'm pretty sure it would come out as weird\pervy.

I got a tip from a HR person when applying for a Internship. (That I didn't get) Works well with what everyone here says about working on your application. "You only need to be first in line for one job, doesn't matter how many second places you get. Do a few reaaally good applications to things you would fit as, rather than a lot of applications half-assed"

Worked as a charm for one of my next 3 applications. Good luck!
