Weird, I've gotten many promotions this way. But I work for a decent company, so there's that.

I wish that were true, but the amount of times I've had only the very first question answered when writing in short, 3 sentence emails without pointing out there was more than one question is astounding.

There are a ton of programs in the UK (and globally also) that'll give it to you free without a prescription.

Absolutely this. Most folks don't recognize addiction in people they know and are shocked when someone passes from OD. "They're a stranger and can die" is selfish AF.

LPT: life pro tips aren't always just for Americans.
"Naloxone is a prescription-only medicine, so pharmacies cannot sell it over the counter" for the UK

Narcan works instantly.
911 calls get there as fast as they can, but it can take several minutes , which can mean the difference between life and death.
This is a great LPT if you know someone who uses opiates. The problem is many people don't know if someone is a user until they OD.

Narcan then 911 is the procedure to save lives. If you carry a gun then you should carry Narcan too.

You don't get promoted for doing a good job. If you do a good job all you get is more work to do, and people leaning on you constantly.
You get better jobs by knowing how to interview for the positions you want.

How about I carry a phone so I can call 911 instead?

I normally avoid taking any kinds of medication without it being 100% necessary, but I'll definitely keep it in mind should I have trouble falling asleep. Thanks!

I suppose it depends on your end goal. If you're in a position you have no ambition to move up from and you're not concerned about your reputation, then sure. If you want to progress, maybe reconsider.

But if I do it now, what will I do later?
LPT: answer as slowly as possible. People are less inclined to axe you stuff, and you don't get paid anything extra for doing it fast

If I'm not getting paid, I'm not making my machine work! It can run it's update of the company dime. That's on solidarity.

Here's a big one. Know your limits and stick to them. For instance, I can't go to bed before relaxing so I'll go to bed around 9:30-10a. But I know that I should not drive or make any important decisions after 9a. I am DUMB and I can feel my reaction time mentally and physically slower. I once stayed up to drive my son to a doctor's appointment at 11am and I was nodding off in the waiting room and I can imagine people might have assumed I was on drugs.
Also, I require 4 hours of sleep to function so I will not make any appointments before 3pm. If I get up before 2 pm I am still dumb and woozy. Not a good thing if I'm trying to be a functional day walker.
Family, friends, school, work...they may try to ask you for things like you're a normal person but you are not. You are a night walker now. Stick to your guns. Sometimes this will result in someone complaining "you're always sleeping during the day". Remind them that if you worked during the day, you would be just as inaccessible.
Good luck.

I really thought the LPT was going to be “shut it down, you’ll have more coffee time tomorrow morning.”

Usually reserved only for certain groups of people though. Hostel managers, front line workers, family of drug users etc. Personally, I've never witness someone using opioids and as such cannot get naloxone.
