100%! We took our new kitty boy to the vet the day after bringing him home from the shelter because he'd lost most of the hair on his ears. The shelter said it was because he was allergic to their plastic collar, but we wanted to check for ear mites anyway and have him looked over. No mites, everything is good, and he now has hair on his ears. He is fat and lazy, but that's our fault.

Another LPT - if you buy a NEW one of something, give an old one away or sell the old one.

Example: blankets and bedspreads. If I need/want a new bedspread I force myself to give an older one away. Having not done that for many years I have accumulated multiple comforters and bedspreads. I keep them because they have sentimental value and because I spent good money on those. But as a single person, do I really need six bedspreads? I do not.

But that's a good way to get clutter gone. Give away something every time you buy a new something, and that includes, many times, CLOTHING.

Like, I still have clothing items I bought at the thrift stores 11 years ago. Why? They still fit! But lately I've been trying to replace those old thrift store clothes as I can with new items.

Better: in a big parking lot or parking garage, take a photo of your car with enough context around to identify the spot (license number, parking spot number, floor number). Did you park on level 3 or level 4? The answer is on the photo. Is your car not there? Show the photo to the parking people.

Every shelter Ive worked with will suggest this to you as part of the adoption process also. That is because they know they aren't even looking for everything that could be wrong.

LPT: even pets available for free adoption from a shelter have a large financial commitment associated with them. Before adopting, make sure you have a budget monthly for everything your new family member will need.

Better yet, understand what your barber is doing so you can tell it to someone new.

You used clippers on my head? What size, where?

Did you cut some parts with scissors? How many inches did you cut off that part?

Notice if you have a cowlick that needs special maneuvering around, etc.

It's easier if they know what they're doing rather than trying to figure out how to recreate the final product.

Same with Bluetooth! Change your device names. Be very careful with BT and turn it OFF in Settings when not in use (the quick “swipe menu” only turns it off for a few hours to 1 day). Do not pair new devices in public places, even your own. A Bluetooth device name may not be the device it says. Make sure your devices are not discoverable or open to connections.
