I don't know much about the economics of small organic farms but my quick math says:
- 4 full time employees at $30k = 120k
- The owner must need to make at least 60k if they have kids
- Farm equipment, taxes, insurance, farmers market fees and memberships, all other COGS - 25k?? (Total guess)
So a 6 acre farm needs to sell over $210,000 worth of produce and seeds just to make sure everyone lives. Is that possible?
Google says an average annual CSA membership is $550 x 180 customers (of the Newport farm CSA) is $99k.
I am not a farmer. Genuinely interested in how the numbers work if anyone has insight

My folks moved here from Ohio so I’m sure thats why we called it goulash. Lots of Hungarian influence out there.

We grew up eating a very basic goulash which was: Ground beef A can of stewed tomatoes Macoroni Salt Pepper
There are different variations of goulash/american chop suey. Classic depression era type of food. Using pepperoni would be really good.

A trip to Gettysburg is very sobering. We took the bus tour then drove back to the Maine monument. It's a good view of the battlefield and the details are well documented.

“Ballad of the 20th Maine” by the Ghost of Paul Revere is a great song about these events. Plus it’s the official state ballad!

I'm not riding anyone's ass in the snow, that's for sure. I'm usually way down the line behind everyone else. A lot of people do pull off, but many just go 10 to 20mph for 20 miles.

Iowa has Confederate remembrance pieces littered around their shithole even though Iowa was on of the biggest Union supporters...

Last week I had to travel on a snowy/rainy day to be at my new house in time for the movers to show up. Didn't want to drive but had no other choice really, from Rumford to Winthrop. I was barely doing the speed limit if at all, since I was concerned about slippery conditions.
Some clown tailgated me from Wayne to Winthrop. Like dude, if I hit an icy patch and lose control, do you *really* want to be that close to me?

I had the pleasure of watching it shortly after visiting Gettysburg itself.

I always imagine Joshua Chamberlain yelling BAYONETS! every time I see a confederate flag in this state.

Eh just let 'em go on by. Sometimes I see the same truck or Subaru that sped past me like a fool stuck in a snowbank a few miles up the road. I don't stop. I have a tow rope, but I figure you're so smart that you got yourself stuck in a snowbank you must be smart enough to get out on your own.

$16.50/hr is not too bad, having health insurance would be nice but very few farms can offer that perk. 1/2 a (butchered) pig is generous, a fair amount of meat; if you like bacon:)

Or just Republicans in general...the self proclaimed "party of Lincoln"...proudly defending the confederate flag. It's almost like they're completely ignorant of history.

Old Town High is so weird. Left leaning teachers, but a very strong right wing student base...at least when I was there. Also surprisingly less diverse than Orono. The Indian Island kids mostly go to Orono

Also FYI his house in Brunswick has a lot of old civil war artifacts and does tours, definitely worth a visit if your into history or old houses or whatever.

Typical downvote cascade in this sub. Even when the post is correct, so many people here just don't enjoy cognitive dissonance.
