If you're in the L/A area go to Paul's in downtown Lewiston he'll get you a solid pair

I used to wear Chippewas, my last pair of those didn’t last very long and I decided to go away from logger boots and bought a pair of Keens. The Keens have held up really well so I’ve bought a second pair with life left in the first pair. Composite toe so it’s less cold and a little lighter. I walk anywhere from 2-10 miles a day out in the woods so I go through boots.

I have a cobbler maintain my chippewas. Got a pair of carolina's last year it sprung a leak but was also the wrong size. I overshot accomodating winter socks. Got a new pair this year. Sprung a leak immediately. I wanted em to work out but 2x in a row is inexcusable.

Old timer that wore and even had a cobbler maintain my chippewas. My Carolinas are superior.

Honest question, why on earth would you leave Canada to go to school in, of all places, America, especially Portland, Maine?
That's like choosing to leave living in a mansion to sleep in a refugee camp.

No. There is a serious avian flu and they have to destroy thousands if not millions of chickens and it's not easy burying them. Check with the CDC: https://www.cdc.gov/flu/avianflu/avian-flu-summary.htm

Tens of millions dead chickens. Chicken has been a cheap and filling protein, not anymore.

Depends on where in Portland. Anywhere that's not referred to as the downtown area (because believe me...as someone who used to live there, crazy shit goes on there) is your best bet, if you can find an affordable house.

Chippewas are the most comfortable steel toe I have found after working many years in a lumber mill.
Comfortable and sturdy. My latest pair is a little over 2 years old.

A good insole goes a long way. Bean’s sells some good ones for $50.

A good place to live but a bit expensive at this point, it really depends what you are looking for. I much prefer being here over a bigger city like Boston, it basically feels like a big town with more to do, but I know some people prefer the bigger city feel.

I like Merrell’s for warm weather and Nat’s for winter. I go composite toe. I was told if anything heavy enough lands on steel toe, potential for severing toes is real.

Seconded timberland pros!
Best boots I’ve worn on a construction site. Wear them year round.
They’re all a little different with arch support/comfort so just do what feels best on your feet!
