Not misguided, I just know my way around law and (generally) around criminals enough to play it safe instead of playing Fuck Around and Find Out with my life.

"The only people that get shot are those who do shady shit" isn't really true. Innocent people get shot all the time and they're just sitting there, at home, maybe watching TV or eating dinner. I could be walking home just listening to music when boom, bullet comes through me by some creepazoid rando. That's why it's good to be aware of your surroundings at all times.

You’re misguided, it’s extremely safe. The only people that get shot are the ones that are doing shady shit. I’ve spent so many nights out on the streets walking home and don’t see a damn thing. Read the news, shootings in Lewiston, abductions in Bangor, it’s happening everywhere. It’s a population thing. Having caution is smart but you’re over exaggerating quite a bit.

In the country, yes, shit's mild here if you make nationwide comparisons. Stack it up with other Maine cities and other areas in said cities, though...not so much.

More shootings than you can count on your hands and feet in the span of a few months, sketchy people, quite a fair bit of crime in general...the only available house in the entire state could be located there and I'd still take living in a tent in the backwoods of an entirely different Maine area instead.

The only good thing about it is that it's got a lot of nice stores and restaurants. You just have to keep your wits about you...and never, ever go out at night without protection.

Actually, it will increase the cost of production.

Say you make and sell widgets. The fixed costs of the mortgage, property taxes, electricity, fuel, and the like will not change if you produce 1000 widgets or 500.

Therefore, you have to raise prices to cover the fixed expense you pay per month and therefore the cost per each rises.

The bank and city governments are not cutting the chicken farmers a break because they have 25,000,000 less birds. They expect their bills to be paid each month.

If anyone is struggling with egg prices, check your local food pantry. They might have excess eggs they need to get rid of, due to the date. Older eggs make for better hard boiled eggs, that is, easier to peel.

Boots theory

>The Sam Vimes "Boots" theory of socioeconomic unfairness, often called simply the boots theory, is an economic theory first popularised by English fantasy writer Terry Pratchett in his 1993 Discworld novel Men at Arms. In the novel, Sam Vimes, the captain of the Ankh-Morpork City Watch, reasons that poverty causes greater expenses to the poor than to those who are richer. Since its publication, the theory has received wider attention, especially in regard to the effect of increasing prices of daily necessities.

Places do not have insurance for that kind of loss. Nor the loss of income from losing their entire flock and having to start all over from scratch. It costs quite a bit to get millions of chickens and wait the 4-6 months before they start laying.
