You're right, as far as I can tell the increase is only "proposed" for summer of 2023 at this time. That said, how often does the Maine PUC deny rate increases?

And in 100 years from now when those trees are mature to cut down they’ll plant more and the cycle repeats itself. You do know that trees are a renewable energy right?

We will have more control.
Every other benefit can come from that.

Yes they are.
And until I get a bill from an electrical supplier that doesn’t pass money through CMP first you will never convince me otherwise.

All rich people use tax loopholes written by both parties to avoid paying “x” taxes

It is actually New Brunswick Power and NextEra who are raising your electric bills.
The recent price increase in supply is NOT CMP's fault. CMP has zero control over supply prices, and gets no revenue from supply. CMP has the unenviable role of billing on the supplier's behalf, bit it is strictly a pass thru.

"Do you like private ownership or not" is the real question that people will be asked when they vote in November, as well as "are you pissed at CMP?"
As we push forward, the reality is the bill is probably going to pass. These questions do not deal with the reality that switching management and ownership may not have all the positive impacts we are hoping for due to the fact power so difficult to deliver in a rural state.
While I'm not trying to nay-say the transfer of power, what is lacking from the conversation is an earnest discussion of what the benefits of switching to consumer owned really will be, how long the transition will be, where there are real concerns etc. etc. etc. so that the transition can be as helpful as possible to consumers.

They don't set supply prices, but you're right there is a group with a major interest in limiting competition and price gouging, the natural gas and fossil fuel companies that funded the anti corridor campaign.
Remember when they ran ads saying that the corridor deal "might save Mainers as little as cents per month"?

Cause we didn’t approve the power corridor. Remember we were going to save 5 bucks a month. Lol but we voted against it. They still got it. And we are fucked.

Come with, and you'll be, in a world of accurate accounting!
The secret is not to attack land owners. The secret is to audit tax cheats. Accounting is my #1 highest priority when it comes to solving the woes of the modern citizenry.

>The delivery rate also increased in the summer of 2021 and is scheduled to increase another 30%.
Please provide data to back up this claim. The utility may have requested a rate increase, but simply asking for it does not mean it is "scheduled" to happen any time soon.

So lets have the government run the power company….. “its civilians doing it” yeah all appointed by politicians… so yeah the government will run the power company. It will not be cheaper, it will be run worse, and the service will get MUCH worse. Remember, the government could not run a whore house successfully, what makes you think they can get a power grid and generation facilities done properly?

Hannafords had snack packs of seaweed everywhere this week, so I grabbed some to try. Honestly? I thought they were just Meh, and the packaging (SO MUCH PLASTIC) really turned me off. They had the texture of kale chips but with a fishy taste. If the health benefits/nutrients were amazing, I would probably eat again, but not in that packaging.
(ETA the ones I tried were GIMME Organic)

Because it’s traded on the open market. How much crude oil has been drilled in 2022 vs 2020?

It's the best part of the state. And they let the public use it (for a small fee in the NMW). It's a great resource. If the state owned it they'd never log it, the roads would get all f-d up and it would be useless.
Notmystationbro t1_j5r3hxg wrote
Because its mostly powered by fossil fuels and this administration has an agenda on ending fossil fuels. Hence the price. Supply and demand. Never had this problem until 2021. Price of oils regulate everything we purchase from electricity to food. Higher costs equal higher rates

Raymond beach I believe allows parking if it’s plowed, haven’t been by since the storms, crooked river snow riders is also in that area, they usually keep a parking lot cleared up route 121, not far past the Raymond/Casco line, I think it’s called queue 5 (trail system).

That corridor and its supporters can get bent.
They can go underground in Vermont. Keep that ugly eyesore elsewhere. Massachusetts signed up for unrealistic “renewable” power goals, they can get them themselves instead of stealing from the states around it.
