correct and we need to remember this before agreeing to housing reforms that are 90 percent upzonings. Public housing for everyday folks NOW!

This is absurdly wasteful and expensive advice...
If you live in a well insulated house from the last couple decades, you're good with a reasonable room temp (not 72).
If you live in a drafty old house like myself, allowing the taps to drip is going to keep them from freezing up.

Caveat—go on Thursday or Friday if you can. Weekends are really busy lately and lessons book up fast!

"With ice, if you skid, let go of the wheel..ain’t nothing gonna stop the skid."
With Studs, you drive ice like snow. You steer into the skid and maintain some control. No studs....good luck.
That said, your other statements such as about AWD....well no since arguing known benefits. You probably still pump the brakes to stop in an emergency.

Its to help prevent your pipes from freezing, if your heating pipes are inactive for too long they could freeze and stop flow, or worse: burst

Lifestance seems to usually be taking patients. I just broke up with my therapist there, but she's in Portland and sees patients in person.

Mt. Abram is good. I like King Pine in NH too for the kiddos, smaller, family owned inexpensive and usually no lift lines for a lot of runs.

I’m a 62f, lived here most of my life, (ten years I lived in Mass) never in my life have I had studded tires. Nor will I, it’s a total waste of money. I’ve never had 4x4 and just recently got AWD (and that’s only because I used it for camping, though to be honest AWD means Jack shit. I was taught how to drive in the winter. Drive slowly and steer into the skid. With ice, if you skid, let go of the wheel..ain’t nothing gonna stop the skid. My ex hit a patch of ice in the 80’s, didn’t see it and we spun around so quickly, it was over in an instant. I’ve skidded, but never really had a bad accident. Save yourself some money and go to a parking lot and practice like we all were taught.

I have an unheated basement where my oil tank and boiler are. Do I need to keep an electric heater on to avoid the oil in the unheated basement from freezing? I guess heating oil just gels, and that happens at 16 degrees, so my assumption is that the system will be fine but you know what they say about assumptions!

In all honesty, all seasons are not sufficient in harsh climates. Ok for occasional bad stuff down south, but in the north rubber has to be soft to shed snow and studded for our ice storms. I have Blizzaks on my 4wd truck which are not studded. They work OK, but don't hold a candle to the studded tires. I only have them as they came with the truck.

Proper pig Waterville has a good burger. Haven't been for a year or so but sure it's still decent. All the apps we had and everyone's meal was good not just the burgers.

My husband prefers a cold house, so we keep it at 60 all winter. Is there an advantage to turning it up in the super cold?

I also disagree. Studds are a must. It saves lives and would eliminate so many accidents if people stopped running all seasons in the winter. It's not just ice, they help with traction in the snow too!

Lots of ice fishermen and skaters out. Lower Ossipee Pond was fine, as was Middle Range Pond. These are quite far apart, so most ponds should be fine at this point for foot traffic. A small pond I visited on Sunday in Hebron had like 8 inches of ice and snowmobiles driving on it.
Just stick to where you see other fishermen and if it is much above freezing, get off the ice by early afternoon.
Most people forget that that the night is twice as long as the day. So just because your phone says it's a high of 38 degrees doesn't mean it's a no-go. You can also attach a large nail to a heavy broom handle and make your own testing pole.

They still make the prestone. You can buy it at napa. Search for Prestone AS250 or Prestone AS253

Their away temp during the day must have been too low, I guess. Maybe they missed that in the directions. Live and learn. It happened about 8 years ago.

I used to buy the yellow kind called Prestone de-icer but I think they discontinued it because I haven't been able to find any for a couple years. I bought some cheapo blue stuff at Walmart and it sucks, it doesn't de-ice at all. Any recommendations?

Oil won't freeze like water in pipes will.
