Although the QK75 is only a "budget keyboard" it may be a really awesome upgrade. The group buy is unfortunately already over but many vendors definitely have ordered extras (e.g. Candykeys in Europe). You can get it with a trimode PCB.

It frees up 3 keys and is faster? I don't have any knobs (don't like the aesthetic) but sounds functional to me

I think you undercut your argument for it being a gimmick when you say the “gimmick” speeds the process up, no? Personally, I much prefer knobs for volume control

There is the old key. But without an old compass or some ivory chess pieces scattered around, I still don't really know what I'm looking at here.

I have Oil Kings on another board (not what you asked, I know) and what I can say is that the box inks have noticeably larger actuation force, but feel just as smooth, even factory lubed.
