Mecha-01 I got from the GB, Drop has round two going right now. The others I picked up off of Aliexpress.

I personally prefer ortho to column or row staggered layouts. Honestly my only wishlist features are a hall effect board similar to the Wooting or a gasket mount case. If I had both of those in a nice heavy aluminum case, I could die happy.

Great collection! Check out the Atlas from Cannonkeys, only available on secondary market now, but really nice, brass weighted 5x12 ortho board.

That varies between models and the site makes a good effort to outline the least possibly damaging way to do the mod for each model. For me, the spring is just sitting on a hook without a fastener, there is a mechanism that when the key is pressed the spring pulls the drum over by a tiny amount, the spring is under tension when the carriage is slid all the way to the new line mark and it reduces every time a key is pressed. In my original comment I posted the site with the instructions. I will say that there are some models that require bending a strip inside but mine did not require that step.

Edit: I had not looked at them in a while and some of the modded typewriters go for three to four times as much as their unmodded siblings. My Royal is 1200$ on some pages I'm seeing.

The kit to convert it is non destructive. I wouldn't have hurt mine, it's mint and they go for 300+ pretty easy.

The kit is a little card looking pcb that you put on the inside near the letter plate or whatever it's called, the base is also totally open so no taking anything apart.

The biggest thing they tell you to do is unhook a spring so the carriage does not move when you type.

What/where did you get the keycaps, I like all of them! I am also working on an entirely custom (pcb) orthlinear layout is there anything you dislike about ortholinear?

The first one I built at the beginning of 2021. Since then I have collected almost all Drop MT3 keycap sets and built 5x12 and 4x12 ortho keyboards for all of them. Housings (cyberdeck keyboard), switches, diodes and wires are relatively cheap, keycaps are not so much.

40s users are objectively the worst (I know because I am one of them) and like to project superiority to hide their insecurities.

But in all honesty, I love typing on my 40s of which I have too many. The initial transition took some time but I would argue the time saved in only lubing one stabilizer and like 3 switches offsets it.

There is already mention of smaller layouts and split layouts in the Form Factor section. I didn't want to make this post too long(lol) so some information was condensed.

Do you rock a 40%? If so, can you explain what it's like to daily a 40% for us smaller brained fellows :3 ?

If you are posting a Review, Make sure you fully disclose any potential conflicts of interest such as whether you were sponsored for the product, received it for free, or sell similar products.

Guide posts should be novel to contribute to the community knowledge base - simple build / assembly videos should use photos flair, and reviews should use the review flair.
