Do you have a link to your code? I was having trouble getting my iris to do layer based color changes without shutting down

Tap-Mod means it’s SPACEBAR when tapped, but if held down it’s a modifier key instead—in this case it’s a momentary layer toggle or “FN” key to access a specific layer.

I have a dedicated layer where the F-keys, numbers and shifted symbols are. I access it by holding down the RIGHT SPACEBAR.

The reason I don’t have Tap-Mod on the LEFT SPACEBAR is because when playing games Tap-Mod is no good when you need to press SPACEBAR repeatedly.

Took me about a week to get back up to full speed. Some of the symbols/brackets are still a bit hard for me since I don’t code every day, but I’m sure it’ll be a smooth transition for you

Was this a DIY build or you bought a prebuilt one and just took keycaps separately?

if you get good at touch typing it might be helpful to put your second layer keycaps on so you can at a glance know where to push them when you need them.

Give yourself a month to get back up to speed.

All I know is the pain I used to have is gone after switching to a keyboard like this.

I don’t understand why people fawn over the originals so much. Clones are usually made of PBT anyways, which last much longer than ABS. Love the matte look of it better too.

Most keycaps you find being sold online (even cheaper options like Aliexpress) are all compatible.

I have edited the post to be more factual and added the link provided by /u/circle26 as it is a great ressource to really understand how different materials and thicknesses really affect the board. I really had it wrong at first but this is exactly why I made this post! Learning new things everyday :)
