It’s turning in to some weird EDC hybrid where we show off our favorite sedentary accessories because the colors match.

The only normal row staggered keyboard I still regularly use is the one in notebooks. You are right, maybe the flat keys make it easier to adjust.
In regard to the layers, I love how I now have arrow keys and a numpad directly under my fingers. So much more efficient.

It’s easy with all keys controlled by index and middle fingers, but pinky and ring are tougher since it involves vertical movement that I’m not used to. Muscle memory tries to get my left ring finger to jump around and do all the work, but its faster to use my pinky for A and Z. I still jump with Q.
I feel that columnar is already so much more efficient and comfortable than staggered. I also could never give up layer functionality with this layout now that I’m getting the hang of it. Everything I need is already within reach and in a natural layout.
I’m surprised it’s easy for you to go back to staggered, I already find it so weird to pick up my old mech keyboard! My laptop though seems much easier but I guess that’s because it has flat keys?

Yah not much action on that front these days.
The notable ones to me are the THE50 and TMOv2 which I would happily have on my desk if I didn't already have these two...

Update:
I fixed it the following night. Soldered a few wire bridges because I discarded/melted some of the copper contacts. I reassembled it and saw a stabilizer as I was clearing stuff away. LMAO I had to desolder a shift key.

Exactly! This is basically a game pad that allows me to use mostly out of the box key layouts in games. I only have to make a few custom key assignments as apposed to remapping every key in every game.

That makes so much sense! This way you can use it like a controller instead of faffing about with your keyboard itself.

I'm a southpaw PC gamer, so I use my right hand for keyboard controls. This is a layout I set up in VIA that mimics the left side of a standard keyboard so that I have standard WASD controls and right to left layout for the rest of the keys. This minimizes the number of keys I need to rebind in every PC game, before I can play.
It also gives me a nice thumb cluster of custom keys that I can easily access, as well as one column of keys to the right of WASD, for my pinky to easily hit. Those are just easy to rebind as well.

Haven’t had the proper chance to type on it yet, but I can’t wait until I can! Super different from any keyboards I’ve used in the past, the sound alone has me hooked too haha
