if it were my own keyboard, sure. but i’m giving this to my very old school dad and i need to keep it as simple as possible. this was the only reasonably priced wood kit i could find.

i ordered another keycap set that’ll work with this. pretty perfect too, i got it super clearanced because it has a russian legend and that’s exactly what my dad needs. i actually accidentally found it today even though i specifically searched for that before. i was already preparing myself for my dad to cover it in stickers.

Not an easy question to answer since budget is a broad term.

Most enthusiast look at sub $250 kits as budget from what ive seen but a budget build is really just whatever you can afford without breaking the bank.

They do! And they DID have full VIA support until VIA updated to 2.1.0, which broke the keyboard definitions that worked on 1.3.1.

Thing is, it's not native support - you can't plug in your keyboard and get it automatically detected. You open via, plug the board, load the definition and THEN it works.

I think the middle key of the 3 keys to the right of your space bar is upside down as well.

Just putting them in a bowl with warm water and dish soap, letting them soak for 15 minutes with occasional stirring, and letting them dry on a dish towel also works fine. Just in case whoever reads this has no dishwasher.

I would agree. Unfortunately it seems that the upstream developers for QMK haven't yet accepted KeyChron for some reason or another (I saw mentions of it on github but don't claim to understand all of what was said), so until they do that we have to use the manual method

I asked KeyChron support and they said they have no plans for Keychrons definitions to get added upstream
