I can't say for sure regarding the whispers tactile since I haven't tried those, but comparing the U4 with the heartbeat the heartbeat is quieter, and feels just way, way, better. I would guesd that the whispers are probably on par with the U4, the tactile bump probably increases the sound just slightly over the linears. But the whispers I would assume have the U4 beat in feel.

Mushy is not the word, they have a slight cutout at the bottom of the stem which softens the impact a little bit but it's more like bending your knees a bit when landong after a jump compared to landing on a mattress. So not even remotely like the mushy feeling rubber dampeners have.

Just clarifying but are they quieter than U4s or just quieter than switches without dampeners? If it's the former, then I'll probably be trying them out.

Is there a picture of the bottom?
Would a sat75 type knob fit or would there be a large gap between the rim of the case and the knob?

The stems also have little leaf spring type bits that dampen the bottom out (might be on the top out too). That’s the part that makes them feel slightly mushy.
I got the Heartbeats to try out, but I couldn’t get over the feel. Silent switches just aren’t for me.

Yes we ship to Australia, we are 100% online, no physical location if that’s what you’re asking :)

Reply to comment by Daell in Keychron Q12 has a layer of tape pre-installed. Very convenient by phero1190
This type of “tape mod” from the factory with that really thick material is not doing much good. It just sits on the hotswap sockets. Getting painters tape to touch the pcb between the hotswap sockets is what will get you that sound.

Anyone from EU ordering these? I'm really curious and like surprises but doubt the delivery costs will be reasonable

Yes, numpad is more tricky to find. The Keychron one is a solid built no bluetooth though.
Any good ideas for alternatives with bluetooth are very welcome.

Reply to comment by henrebotha in I've built a website that has a list of (almost) all key switches! by skwee357
I did a good market research before development, so I've missed switches.mx, but it did come up later when I was looking for specs to one of the switches.
Switches.mx is a good overall site, I really like the design. Seems like we are focusing on the same specs of the switches. However, there are so difference between my vision and what switches.mx offers:
- switches.mx feels slow. It's a PHP website, so it needs a server. AnySwitch is entirely statically generated
- switches.mx focuses more on regular profile, mx switches. I plan to have all the switches, including low profile, and different stem types like Topre or Choc.
- Switches.mx is a database that you can search. My vision is to eventually include a comparison option as well as list of similar switches (based on specs heuristic)
But yeah, switches.mx is great otherwise!

lol. When I first got this keyboard, I didnt think Id end up constantly changing my Keys so quickly :)). Im glad I got the right switches the first time (went with the Browns since its not too loud and not too silent. Just in the riiight spot in the middle) Was originally gonna go for a Cyberpunk Set but changed my mind before I hit buy. Wasn't really feeling the spacebar and enter keys.

Less mushy than u4 but still slightly mushy at the bottom

Hmmm it is a bit pricey so it could be a while for me to save up for them (I live in the Philippines and yeah, international shopping brings as much pain as pleasure haha) Had a bit of a impulse buy moment and bought a "watercolor" cap set. Figured it was right for a "restart" on customizing my keyboard
Ill check him out. I am the type that loves customizing my things to make it feel like it truly is mine :)) Im a sucker for games that give a huge number to endless customization options hehe.

Zilents, U4, Cherry and Gateron silents. And then some UHMWPE linear switches which aren't marketed as silent but I do find them quieter than pom or nylon based switches and without any dampeners.

Can you share a sound test with bobas. I have alpacas V2 L+F and they sound nifr and marbly.

They are a normal linear switch with holes drilled in the bottom to allow sound to escape which is what makes them silent, so there is absolutely no mushiness.
Edit: haven't tried the whispers since tactiles aren't my favourite but I believe the whispers aren't quite as silent since that tactile bump produces a little bit more sound of course.

I loathe f rows 😅 I prefer compact keyboards but if you are refering to the LOTR set on Drop.com don't cheap out it's worth the money to get it directly from them. My ex bf had the elvish set and it was so much prettier in person than I thought it would be, call it more of an investment and you can just shine the metal keycaps cause theyd go well with the dwarven aesthetic. As for the spacebar and enter keys you can try Thok keycaps if you're willing to dish out the money they have beautiful metal keycaps, if not can always use Etsy until you find something of better quality.
If you want some inspiration check out Alexotos on YouTube he's my biggest inspiration in this hobby despite us having clashing aesthetics. He builds a variety of keyboards so you'd be able to get a general idea of what you're looking for and might even find something a little more unique to seperate you from your friends and give you more a 1of1 feeling.
