I haven't tried that, but also haven't needed to.

A while back, I dove down the portion of the rabbit hole where you finally acknowledge that nobody else is going to design your perfect keyboard, so you will have design it for yourself.

I'm so far down the custom ortho hole now, even stuff I used to love has lost a lot of its attraction, like the Apple AEK, and my Wind X.

That's what I'm thinking. Custom design just takes too much effort. I'm not sure it's worth it at this point. Just ordered the Keebio Convolution, have to try it out. Seems close enough.

Use painters tape for the tape mod, rather than duct tape or electrical tape. It’s not particularly sticky and won’t leave residue if you want to remove it down the road. I did 3 layers of tape on my Q5. I also put PE mod on my Q5 which is fairly easy to do.

So True.

I never use the bottom left mod. I'm on HHKB, so no caps lock, just ctrl. I agree that since switching to mac, I like using thumb for any mod key pressing. I think it's indeed superior: You just don't have to move you hand at all. E.g. for Ctrl-A,S for split pane in tmux, I sometimes get it wrong because my pinky is on Ctrl (caps lock position).

Thanks for the suggestion! Looking into it...
