That would only really appeal to laptop type users. No mechanical keyboard enthusiast would want this. I'm not saying it would have no appeal to anyone, I just think you're hawking this in the wrong place.

Even if you could mount keycaps, they would not be MX compatible, so there would be hardly any replacement caps for it... if any at all if it's a unique design by you. You would be selling an off the shelf keyboard with no options for customisation. I really think you'd be better off pushing this in r/keyboards

I feel this! I love my expensive ass keeb but oh boy those cheapass Dell keyboards our school library has that I managed to get (for free because a staff member said I could have one since they had an extra useless spare) has such an illegally satisfying typing feel for no reason lmao. Well the spacebar is rattly as hell but other than that tbh I just adore it. 😂😂

I simply want to show my design further along my design phase, at least when I can show an initial render.

In it's simplest form, it would be <0.5mm travel and keycapless, in 60% form factor. It is infact a mechanical keyboard, much like the rest here and the ones I own, just reimagined. Instead of keycaps.

I'll leave it at that for now and repost about this when I'm further along the project as I agree it's mostly empty statements at this point from my part. Worry not though, it'll come. So far, this is a 1 of 1 project for myself, but who knows.

I'm all for more 75s, but I prefer TKL layout. There's something about the spacing between sections that makes it look nicer.

After stuffing all of the functionality of my Wind X into a 60% case, "almost all the functionality of a TKL" just doesn't make the cut anymore, at least for me.

If you're planning a project and looking for community input, why would you not advertise what you're actually making? All I can gather is that you're planning a 60% board without keycaps, which just sounds like a troll.

Nope, in this case, aluminum (it's metal) case boards have a risk for ESD.

In my case, I'll feel buzzy when I'm touching my Vega when I'm not grounded. Makes me think that the board was "susceptible" to ESD. Even though it never broken once on me.

More metal, more risk to conduct static discharge. Even then, I don't think it's accurate to just say "swap to polycarbonate or plastic case" to simply alleviate the issue.

Then again, I am no electrical engineer. Probably helps a little that I have little to no carpet flooring at my current residence plus the wood flooring probably helped.

On the other side of that argument, I have dedicated arrow keys on my 60%, in addition to the layered ones.
That setup allows me to use whichever set makes the most sense, at any given moment.

If my right hand is on the mouse, and going back to it, I will either use the dedicated arrow keys, or use WASD with my left hand, surrounded by Backspace, Delete, Pg Up, Pg Dn, etc...
If my right hand is on the mouse, and needs to go to typing position next, I will move it straight to the home position, then use the layered arrows on IJKL, also with the nav cluster keys around them.
If my right hand is already in typing position, I will swap to IJKL, on the fly, then resume typing, without ever moving my right hand from home position.

Moving my hand off the home position, to go use the dedicated arrow keys, then moving it to hit a follow-up key, like Backspace or Delete, then moving it back to home position, is completely inefficient.

Vega from ai03 for example... Kinda shocks all the time (???) but never died at all. Well, not a zap, more like a buzzing when I touch the case.

Also Kei (Monokei), Noah (Matrix Lab), Neo87 (CherryB Studio), and U80-B (Rama). They all metal but it's very rare to see someone complaining of their PCB dying. Either it's rare or just "untold."

You should get a jacked up, 1-ton, Ram quad-cab 4WD, with a long bed.
That seems to be the go-to solution for all the phallically-challenged individuals in my area.

Make sure you get the optional wall of lights across the entire front too.
Blinding the shit out of all of us Miata drivers, before you pass, is an essential part of successfully hiding your teeny weenie from the public.

You can get 75 keys into a 60% case, so I don't see any reason to opt for a 75% case.

The keyboard I'm using right now has 69 keys, with three sets of arrow keys (1 dedicated and 2 layered), and a full proper numpad (also layered), all stuffed into a 60% case, with HHKB blockers on the bottom row.

What more do you want?
