If the springs look tangled from the factory, the trick is to not spin or turn them, just separate them horizontally. They're not actually tangled, just crossed over each other.

It's nature at work. They are fusing into a more powerful spring.

Try this with the conical springs from a Topre keyboard... you will hate the world even more!

Either try to get them parallel to each other or turn them in separate directions

I grab two ends and very gently twist in opposite directions (right hand going counterclockwise). They usually come apart with no trouble at all. In a cluster like this though, I'll try different opposite ends until one comes out easily then go from there.

On that note, I just use two pairs of tweezers to pull them apart. Key is to be gentle and making sure the two springs are lined up parallel. Give it a shot, usually works better than twisting.
