I don't want the company to own MY keyboard, so I didn't even try.
My keyboard makes my working conditions better, so it's a good investment, from my perspective.

I did have them pay for my Master 3 mouse though.

Whether you agree or not is irrelevant, I literally do this for a living lol

Some companies will say "fuck off" and some will not give a shit. Completely depends on your company.

I don’t agree. Sure expense policies are different, but I’m more curious about how many people were able to do it, how, do they enjoy the board they were able to expense, etc.

Every company's expense policy is completely different, so unless someone here also works at your job, someone else's experience with this is basically irrelevant.

(I'm an accountant at a tech company)

From my experience, you'll be so used to the Backspace key location soon, you'll find yourself typing endless strings of Backslashes, every time you use someone else's keyboard.

The deeper you go into that, the worse it gets.
The most annoying one for me is when I try to use my pop-up arrow cluster, on IJKL.
I can't tell you how many "I" and "K" characters I've typed, trying to hit the Up and Down Arrows.

Yeah, the case plays mayhem with trying to take a photo of it! 😂 It is pretty noisy right now, but I will lube the stabilisers and I'm thinking about jamming some foam inside too. I'm not really into the whole sound thing, so I don't really know what's considered good, but I can stick up a video later.

Ya I'm really into a soft bouncy typing feel atm so I am loving it. I have an alu half plate that once I try a few switches out I will solder whatever I settle on. Planning on trying Boba U4T next and then might try BCPs.

Use Kapton tape to hold the mill max sockets in place while soldering. I don’t find it tedious. Far more tedious to actually place the sockets into the holes. Insert a whole row, then take a long section of 1/2in or 3/4in wide kapton and slap it down over all the sockets in one action. 30 secs to apply the tape vs 10-20 minutes for the sockets. YMMV.

What sockets would fit the board better? I had no idea.

Yeah your third point makes sense. I killed about 3 switches using the same MX Browns, but luckily the rest installed just fine.

I did my best to research before buying parts, but the hobby is already overwhelming when starting for the first time so I'm not surprised I bought the wrong parts.

There is a reason why the YouTube videos don’t mention your specific issues. The should never occur if you do the correct research before jumping in.

  1. There are multiple boards like that. There are other mill-max sockets that fit them better.

  2. If you run into this issue, you selected the wrong parts.

  3. It’s not recommended to use switches that have been soldered in mill max sockets at all. It’s possible to damage/jam the socket so that you cannot remove the switch and tear the socket and pad of the PCB. Beware.
