Well... for those that can't touchtype :) Also, people just like the way it looks I suppose. This is why custom boards that don't have shine through legends still have RGB. I don't look at my keyboard to type though, so even if my legends did light up I still wouldn't be looking at them.

Yeah, I'm a computer scientist who still occasionally has to implement things in code, and I'm always sort of surprised when people ask me how I am able to do that with my HHKBs. I actually think I work more efficiently because of how little I have to move my hands from the home row.
