because if we stopped the group buy model it's more likely that the ya'll wont be getting the keycaps you want:

Suppose a gmk groupbuy moq to even get them to run it is 500, and suppose we're talking about a small time vendor that can only afford to buy 500 units (for simplicity in this discussion), and that the vendor will always buy 500 units per run

With a groupbuy model:

There's be X + 500 units floating around in the after market, anyone that wants a set will get a set if they're around for the group buy, so X is the number of people that bought into the groupbuy

With a groupbuy model:

There'd literally be only 500 sets available period. You'd then be subjected to the whims of the 500 people in the entire world that managed to get their hands on a set

and that's just for base kits. What about childkits like novelties, alternative mods/alphas, child kits for exotic keyboards etc? where are you gonna get keycaps for those then?

I code for work. I use the Corne 42-keys, but have since modified my bindings for 36-keys outside of gaming.

You can remap using QMK and layers so each layer has a different layout. I have:

  • Alphas on Layer 0

Thumb cluster, from left to right are:

  • Tap Delete/Hold Layer 2

  • Backspace/Shift

  • Enter/Layer 1

  • Enter/Layer 3

  • Spacebar/Layer 4

  • Tab/Ctrl

  • Numbers on Right Layer 1(RL1), Ctrl+key and Alt on Left Layer 1(LL1),

  • Navigational keys on RL2, custom Symbol mapping on LL2 (I didn't map my symbols like they are on the number row, customized it based on how I think it should go)

  • Functions on RL3, Macros/combinational key press on LL3, togglers for gaming layers (Layer 5 and 6)

  • Numpad on RL4, Mouse keys on LL4

You can also search up Miryoku mapping for ideas.

Typing on a slightly modded RK68 plus (lubed stabs, the gamer keys swapped out for holy pandas and lubed reds) right now. It's a really great keyboard for the price and it will last you a really long time. Welcome to the club!
