This is my keymap on a keyboard with a form factor kinda similar to OP's. And this is my keymap on a smaller 30% keyboard.

The 30% Gherkin was my daily driver for several months, I just moved to a split keyboard 3 days ago, that keymap is just a visual aid to help write the QMK code, I use things like autoshift, capsword and combos on the smaller keyboard that are not represented on the images, but it should give a rough idea on how it's setup. I'm not a programmer, I'm a designer for my use case I need to use the modifiers a lot along with symbols and numbers for Adobe Suite shortcuts that's why I make sure to have the mods on every layer.

I lubed my zealios (except the bump) and the change was positive. Not super dramatic, but possitive.

The BM40 is a good way to go if you're ok with the 2u spacebar layout. It's a great keyboard that can be built for not a lot of money and can be used with QMK or VIA. There's a few options for aluminum cases from KP Republic and you can print something if you want to go that route.

>Are you suggesting that I should be happy about GB because some people got some of their GBs on time, while I didn't receive any of mine ever even close to the estimated deadline?

I think you need to help separate the frustration with your bad GB experiences to help understand that there is more to a Good or Bad Group Buy than whether it's a Group Buy.

You've been asking for examples of other GBs that have gone off without a hitch or met deadlines. The Bear65 v2, Av4, Lumberjack, are examples of varying GBs (both big and small) that were successful. Why they didn't have delays may have more to do with who was running the GB (as well as what they were offering), and are demonstrations that the GB model isn't self-evidently bad; moreso that it works differently for switches, keyboards, and keycaps.

Would you like some cheese with that whine? Just stick to purchasing on mechmarket or from larger brands like Geonworks/Owlabs etc that have their act together and don’t take 2 years to deliver a group buy. There’s way to avoid being screwed by micro brands that don’t have the know how or integrity to stick to the deadlines they set for their customers

That’s simply not true. Take POM durock linears, vints and oil kings for example. Lube them or not, they sound really different although all are linears. Also, try some different (quality) boards, that may help hearing difference :D

I have about 40 different switch sets and my favourite ones are unlubed. Seriously, lubing takes away so much character from a switch, this meme actually isn't that fictional imho.

I don't like those gaps on the right side or exploded layouts in general. Why I didn't get Keychron's Q65. Missed the point of compact layouts by bloating it with all that unused space. The EVO70 looked good but I didn't like the mounting style and low profile. Same reason with the other 65XTs.

I've been looking for a 60XT for so long. Sadly no one has made one, yet.

Imagine a BM60 layout with the arrows, ? and right shift but with the Kairo65's big knob and left macros. Maybe even split space? Split BS (top "\" and "del", bottom BS). Backlit keys? (I love my ASA Lavacaps)

EDIT: Those arrow keys are essential. They just need to be less cursed somehow. The knob and macro cluster looks so good but the arrows ruin it.

I like em clicky, so my favorites are the Kailh Box Jades. The navy blue are very similar in sound but quite a bit heavier, too heavy for my pinky.

The box whites are the lightest of them all but also the least loud. Those are the ones that I can use in the night with two doors closed and not wake up my wife, the Jades not so much.

All of them have click bars.

I have also been using Cherry MX Blues for a long time, but would not recommend them since you have way better options nowadays.

None of them I would recommend for an office environment, your colleagues will probably plot to assassinate you.
