Old or new, obscure or the highest selling artist of all time, of any genre. We all have that list that we recommend everyone check out. Doesn't necessarily need to be a favorite, just artists you recommend relatively universally. Mine are:
•Hurt- Right at the border of Nü-metal, and post grunge. Difference is they have the songwriting skills to make the darker tone work, and are talented enough to keep the radio rock formula interesting. Absolutely my favorite band to come out of the 2000s, and the exemplar of too awesome to stick around long.
Die Krupps- German 80s EDM, and 90s-today industrial band. Essentially a proto Rammstein, but in English. Especially their Vision 2020 Vision album/song is worth checking out. Though if next time real life didn't imitate an apocalyptic semi concept album, by a socialist industrial band that's obscure even by my standards, I'd take it as a kindness.
Soilwork- Started out as a Swedish death metal band, started experimenting, and are now best described as blues rock with some slight anger issues.
