Thanks for catching that. Not sure how that typo happened.

Ah, they quit in 2012, which is the time I started diving into the local scene.

If you haven't already, check out hadestown by Anais Mitchel. Amazing folk opera about Orpheus and Eurydice, but think 1930s coal Town vibe.

don’t want to sound condescending but you don’t know how to listen to jazz. i took a jazz appreciation course in college that opened my mind and ears. you would benefit from same. or maybe just don’t listen to jazz. there’s plenty of other music out there.

More time investment/research? I’d argue the opposite.

Given some of the more mellow songs Freddie sang, I think he could do that tune, which is arguably my favorite Sam Cooke tune, justice.
That said, I never said Freddie was the be all, end all of singers. I feel about him the same way I feel about Sam Cooke. Both great singers, but not the greatest singers.

Schlong did a punk cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Rumours called Tumours. Fit the whole album in a 45.

Brito - This Wave is Only for the Good Hearted.
Also Netherlands. Groningen to be specific. Math rock/screamo, but not brutal / intimidating / scary.

Your post reminds me a line from a tv show called “clone High”:
“Folks, For my next totally outrageous campaign stunt, I will ride this windsurfboard which is connected by a bungee cord to this monster truck, which my friend Gandhi will drive back and forth on this half-pipe. Just like the real Abe Lincoln would have done, had he the tools to do so.”

Unless the album doesn't capture my attention within the first few tracks, I always listen to the entire album.

The net killed music. Up to the early 80s artists couldn't even step foot in a studio if they didnt have exceptional talent. These days we have non talented kids turning out complete garbage on the net daily. Another factor is when these talentless hacks get a little attention, they begin introducing their even less talented friends to be on tracks.

Billy Joel - Goodnight Saigon.
We met as soul mates on Parris Island We left as inmates from an asylum And we were sharp as sharp as knives And we were so gung ho to lay down our lives
We came in spastic, like tame-less horses We left in plastic as numbered corpses And we learned fast to travel light Our arms were heavy, but our bellies were tight
We had no home front, we had no soft soap They sent us Playboy, they gave us Bob Hope We dug in deep and shot on sight And prayed to Jesus Christ with all of our might
We had no cameras to shoot the landscape We passed the hash pipe and played our Doors tapes And it was dark, so dark at night And we held on to each other, like brother to brother We promised our mothers we'd write
And we would all go down together We said we'd all go down together Yes, we would all go down together
Remember Charlie, remember Baker They left their childhood on every acre And who was wrong? And who was right? It didn't matter in the thick of the fight
We held the day in the palm of our hands They ruled the night, and the night Seemed to last as long as six weeks On Parris Island
We held the coastline, they held the highlands And they were sharp, as sharp as knives They heard the hum of our motors, they counted the rotors And waited for us to arrive
And we will all go down together We said we'd all go down together Yes, we would all go down together

Yes, in my opinion - but that's what this post is all about.
Who's the best is always going to be subjective absent objective facts.
