Great album indeed. My favorites are “mirror” and “give me mercy”. I listened entire album when it was released, but only these two remaining in my playlists.

Not from Big Band era, but Brian Setzer Orchestra is pretty much Big Band with guitar.

More modern but Brian Setzer from the Stray Cats did some big band/swing. I saw them live. Was pretty great. https://youtu.be/aHWcN5YxuYc

There’s a story that she needed to get away from it all and wanted to go to the Caribbean and just hide out for a while. She took her dad along who, true to form, invited a film crew. That’s the kind of shit she had to deal with.

I just posted the same thing. We knew Tennis Courts, but I heard Royals on college radio and legit pulled over and called someone to say "she has it"

Nirvana Unplugged was primarily covers and songs that weren’t hits. I remember hearing the producers saying they were expecting a standard hits-based set list and had they known what was going to happen, they would have recorded it differently.

Royals by Lorde. I heard it on a college radio station, pulled over and called a friend.

You need (at least) percussion for timing and rhythm, guitar or piano for composition.

Construção - Chico Buarque / great sample of MPB (popular brazilian music)
Espelho - João Nogueira / my favourite samba artist. Though you lose so much by not knowing portuguese because the lyrics are amazing, the overall listening is still wholesome

Fair enough. Plus, a couple of the songs they played were just not that great, although a couple of them did stand out.

Guitar cuz im already learning that. Id probs learn bass tho cuz i feel like that sets a good foundation for both guitar and drums just cuz bass and drums are both rhythm and guitar and bass are both guitars. If you can sing and learn to do it well you can always do it last cuz you can make music without vocals

Adam Gontier from Three Days Grace is one of the best vocalists of all time. I've heard many singers from so many different genres but there are very few who can do what he has done. I've never heard anyone mention his name when they discuss the all time greats. Just go and watch a random live performance from him. Even in an acoustic setting his delivery is perfect. People might get triggered to see a "butt rock" singer in the same conversation as Plant, Mercury, Cornell etc. but it is the reality. Range, feel, power, clarity, stamina, intensity he checks all the boxes.
