All of your points show an absolute ignorance of jazz. Jazz has been around for over 100 years and I can find artists in every decade that would disprove all of your points. From Louis Armstrong and Duke Ellington to contemporary artists like Ezra Collective and Moses Boyd there are plenty of examples, of course there are also extreme examples that do meet your criteria but that is not all there is to jazz just liked Norwegian Black Metal isn't all there is to rock.

I've been playing for 40 years and the only thing I can say I've accomplished in that time is that my fingers don't hurt anymore.

Reply to Is social media killing music? by your_friend_dingus
not killing but heavily skewing
people aren't "being told" now any more now than they were with radio
but the game has completely changed
connectivity has completely bypassed the original structure
now, some obscure Soundcloud artist can go viral if the popular person at school plays it at their party etc and then everyone links it to their friends
and at the same time, a 12-year-old girl can have the same favorite song as a 24-year-old dude
or a band that's been around for decades can get a bump from TikTok
we're in a wild west, "cats and dogs living together" era of music
there always has been, and will always be, an influential dominant consensus of some sorts with music
before it was controlled by music execs, now it's completely random and everything is up for grabs

I'm a lefty who plays right handed guitars. I thought it helped to navigate the fretboard as a lefty and I did also struggle with my picking technique for a while. I find any issues with the left hand is best approached by going really slowly at first and then speeding up, while my picking got worse when I try to start slow (I go fast to establish what I want to do, then do it slowly to clean up and progressively speed up again)

It is very doubtful that the guitar is too big for you. How you're holding it, where you put your thumb, etc. will matter a lot though. You should use a strap and be standing. How high you adjust the strap is personal preference. The important thing is that it's comfortable. Your thumb should be on the back of the neck on the opposite side of your fingers. Your fingers should be arched so that they push down the strings without touching nearby strings unless you're playing a barre chord. Arching your fingers is the hardest to master.
If you do it right, it's going to hurt like hell until your fingers get calloused enough.

Try flipping it and reverse the strings. The ole Jimmy Hendrix method worked for him. Maybe you play guitar left handed?

Lol. That's Fleetwood Mac? I'm a pretty big Camper fan but had no idea. Mostly because I dismissed the album as their least interesting. Not a Fleetwood Mac fan but I'll have to try approaching it again.

I noticed that there were so few Big Band songs that featured guitars which led me to ask this question. While the guitar isn’t my favorite instrument, it’s certainly a good one and I love a bunch of 1920’s Jazz guitar songs like this of Nick Lucas so I figured I should try to find some electric guitar centric Big Band music. I also really do recommend Nick Lucas if you are interested in Jazz guitar, plus he was a good singer too.

Bettie Serveert did a Velvet Underground album. Though that said, even though I like the band it's pretty lackluster. Can't even remember if it was the eponymous album or the banana album. But it exists.

I've been playing for well over half my life, and still, it can be tough. Took like 8 years for me to be even good at improv, and I still can't read sheet music. I just learn everything by ear and write by feeling. It's tough to learn, it takes many years. But you'll get there.
