I always loved the green green grass of home, without love, and I who have nothing. My mom when she was alive use to get me to sing them for her. I’m not sure why someone would downvote you because he was a very powerful singer and he has kept his voice better than most singers I can think of. Which is also a testament to his vocal talent. Sometimes Reddit is a weird place.

Build up that muscle memory. Practice switching between two chords until it feels second hand nature. The only way you'll get good is sounding shit for a while. It hurts the ears, but when you get it you'll know.

Wow! that poem puts you in the fox holes and on the battlefields alright.

I'm a veteran who missed Vietnam by just a few years.

Here is a more philosophical musing focusing on the victimized society.

I would read this poem while on active duty and thank my luck star I wasn't two or more years older, with an unlucky lottery # pick.

I’m left handed and tried to learn on a right handed guitar and it was a no go. I could never play for shit until I moved to a left handed guitar, it made a big difference for me.

I love Chris Cornell and as far as hard rock vocalist he has a case. But for vocalist with the most range I don’t know if he has the range to beat perry I don’t know Steve Perry has just always been one of my favorite singers. And Pavarotti is different from the other guy’s because he didn’t really crossover into other music but just listen to Turandot: nessun dorma and tell me if it’s not amazing the power his voice has.

Damn, that's a hard question... Colombian here btw.

I'd say that Carlos Vives has the best songs in my country, though I might be biased due to my mother and me listening to him for years.

Anyways give "Más + Corazón Profundo" (2014) a try. Carlos' music mixes vallenato (a local genre) with pop/reggaeton, and it sounds really good. In this album you can find some popular hits here in Colombia, like "El Mar de Sus Ojos" (One of my favorites) and "Cuando nos volvamos a encontrar". Finally, I also suggest you listening to the album "VIVES" (2017) made by the same singer that also features very good songs, but I'll leave that up to you. :p

I think the easiest way to get into broader music is not to quit, no skipping around, no stopping halfway through, you appreciate music when you give it time to digest in your mind. Before I decide if I don’t like something, I make sure I’ve listened to a minimum of at least 7 songs, either in one full sitting or mixed into my usual stuff, one shuffled in during every day of the week. That’s for a completely new genre, while more similar stuff I’ll sit down and listen to an album in its entirety before coming to a conclusion.
