I think it all depends on what I feel while listening to the song. Sometimes the words just seem to get in the way, other times they're what take it from a good song to a great one. An example of this is "What Sarah Said" by Death Cab for Cutie. Beautiful instrumental made better with extremely well-written lyrics.

I mean, he could be like "y'all I can't do this in February, but I'm gonna make s channel it me walking around with my tracks playing until we get through this together" but then he'll need to put in the work and keep producing more music.

Well, sometimes a song on the radio comes on and I'm like...didnt know I wanted this, or...thats a nice surprise.

When it comes to records I'm not really sure if I put something on because I want to hear it, or because I'm alreay in the mood for listening to it. Maybe a bit of both.

People have been writing songs built around one short hook for decades (Sweet Caroline? Dancing Queen?)

Lizzo didn't record that song for Tik Tok. People put it in videos because that part of the song is catchy. It's a good song and a good album.
