ya his voice is basically numbed by the instrumentals all the time but man this is a complete transformation in yatchy's instrumentals
But I feel like his voice is also an instrument which adds another layer onto the song and is not overpowering, the humming and everything. Just a beautiful vibe added to the song
metalama t1_j677tv7 wrote
Yes the instrumentals are top tier, but I have the same problem I’ve always had with Lil Yachty. I just don’t understand why his lyrics and voice are appealing in the slightest. And I have a problem judging the album for its instrumentals when it’s a Lil Yachty album and I know he probably didn’t play even one of those instruments. Even if he did, we all know it wasn’t the cello.

Way easier to answer in terms of albums and not have to focus on the songs, but:
Into My Arms - Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
Avalanche - Leonard Cohen
Refuge of the Roads - Joni Mitchell

Decemberists are probably my favorite live band right now (I’m also very old, enough that I was able to see the Clash and Stevie Ray Vaughan in concert)

I'm with you. I try to appreciate music more for the raw sensory expression and not the concepts thrown at you with verbal language. It makes all music more open to interpretation.
I can still enjoy a song that's selling an idea but really, most of the time I'm ignoring that because it feels like a 'cheat' for a lack of a better word.

Since you love vocal harmonies then I recommend
Forestella - Save our lives https://youtu.be/97JPv9ni1vw
Forestella - Utopia https://youtu.be/aT2mbsDQwlI
Forestella songs have a lot of vocal harmonies and I love their vocals and songs
Valensia - Gaia https://youtu.be/BC6nUoiFtvM
Gaia sounds interesting and beautiful

Wow I think you hold the world's record for most favorite genres, lol Music is also my #1 thing in life but I only like rock, some pop, some bluegrass, some new age, some reggae, and some EDM. My favorite bands are Queen, Muse, Pink Floyd, Lana Del Rey, and Silverchair.

Reply to Why do you listen to music? by Relative-Tone-4429
I listen to music more for the sound and how it can surprise me, things such as unique chord progressions, and melodies that do stuff they shouldn't. for instance i can jive to a 'sad' song just as easily as a happy bop
its probably because I'm not great on listening to lyrics, like I can listen to a song hundreds of times and know the intricacies of the snare ghost hits and the exact amount of vibrato used in the second bar of the guitar solo well before I know even half of what the singer is singing, it generally takes me looking up the lyrics to actually figure out the meaning of the song etc.

The first track is a not so subtle interpolation of Pink Floyd’s dark side of the moon. That said, it’s not bad.
