Excellent. The concept of bring popular or consumed by the masses is antithetical to metal in the first place.

Thank you all, duly noted!
Now to be honest, I started the thread looking more for platforms/stores/streaming services that abound in world music rather than individual recommendations.
I guess the conclusion is that YouTube is the primary source, so I'll be exploring it more, started a subscription for YouTube Premium today for that

The thing I love most about music is the way other people love music. It doesn’t have to be the same as I love, just talking with people about music and seeing them impacted by it is beautiful. It’s like art, fine wine, food, it’s all subjective in taste, but seeing people ‘light up’ when they talk about it is just magnificent.

To be fair it’s much better than the schmaltzy original in French (and I’m French).

My Way is my funeral song. I’m 48 so hopefully it’s some time off, but it’s brilliant.

Yeah, nostalgia is a big one - it's so bittersweet. I listen to music for a lot of reasons. E.g. listen to songs I already like due to personal associations of all kinds, particular feelings they evoke, nostalgia, contexts or just because I like the sound; but I like to listen to new music, for instance, out of curiosity for new authors, genres, knowing more by one author I admire, as a challenge or desire to understand why something is good or considered good, or merely searching for songs that I may evoke strong emotions or reactions in me...

This is a bad copy of a French song. It is so crappily self congratulatory, makes be want to puke.

Reply to Most Iconic Video Game Soundtracks by yellowtieguy
Most iconic is probably Super Mario Bros. even if it is just World 1-1 that people remember.
My favourite and also highly iconic is The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time.
Final Fantasy VIII stood out for me more then VII, but that's probably due to the age I was when I played VIII. Also the opening cut scene for VIII is a thing of cinematic beauty that tied in heavily to how I remember the game and I think was also utilised in the TV adverts for the game.
As for games that make the soundtrack part of the gameplay, those dance mat games were massive, but Guitar Hero took things up a notch, however I'd struggle to recall any of the tracklisting for the first three Guitar Hero games bar Through The Fire And The Flames by Dragonforce.
