Highlight for me is Song for the dead. Dave Grohl on the drums for the whole album. No longer listen to it in the car because it makes me drive like an arsehole.

Probably Dark Side of the Moon from Pink Floyd or Abbey Road from The Beatles. Those two albums are often seen as the definition of albums being one cohesive work of art, not just a collection of songs.

I really recommend watching their full set of this album on "From The Basement"

There are no speakers loud enough to properly play "The Wheel".

I think the first question is, are you looking to record playing as a whole band, or record the instruments separately with a guide track or metronome?
If recording as a band you will need lots of audio interface inputs and lots of Mics for proper control of every instrument, as well as space and absorbant panels to minimise bleed from one instrument to another.

And that's fine, if your enjoyment of music is contingent upon a generic 4/4 drum pattern

I kind of think DSotM is the greatest album of all time because of that perfect front to back experience. It’s so totally complete and it has everything you could ever want: incredible songwriting, otherworldly production quality, masterful musicianship, great signing, moving lyrics, unified themes, total cohesion. I think I’d pick this one, too.

A small mixing board, if you can get one that records multiple tracks at the same time that's great. Microphones for vocals and if it's small maybe a few room mics to capture around. Maybe 1 or 2 mics on the drums to get the range. A decent computer, mixing software, monitors. A thousand bucks would do a decent small studio for like indie stuff. You can direct instruments into the board and use fx on the computer, or mic the amp and go from there. I'm sure YouTube has a bunch of tips also.

It was crazy overplayed. I don’t really listen to the radio or anything, but I would still hear it at work.
The same thing happened with “Royals” by Lorde.
