One of my faves. So many hidden gems scattered throughout the unreleased and rare stuff. Paul Draper’s last solo album is well worth a listen too. I often think they came along at the wrong time - never seemed to quite fit in a scene and ended up completely imploding.

Not a musician but I am musically inclined and I definitely prefer to listen to music louder than most because I want to feel it, I want it to surround me, I love the imaging my setup gives me. I can visualize where the sound is coming from and I want it to sound like the instruments and band are in that space with me, the only way to achieve this is to turn it to or around reference levels.

Personally, I do that because most speakers need some volume running through them before they actually hit the sweet spot sound wise. Plus, I sat next to a marshal cab and a bass cab for 5 years, my hearing is not really in mint condition anymore lol.

Plus, when I actually get to hear a good sound system, I want to take advantage of it vs an iPhone speaker the size of a pen tip.

This reminds me of a Married With Children episode where Al could only remember the first few notes of a song and it was bothering the heck out of him. Ha, that was basically the entire episode

There were a lot of different mp3 players on the market, each one trying to be the next big thing, and being able to have a single device have all your music was such a game changer at the time.

The way I remember the iPod though, and having it launch along with iTunes actually played a big role in steering music back away from piracy. So while it did help make pirate easy and popular, it also adapted in the end where most other players/companies did not

They were the first band I saw live, unless you count their support act (Cecil). At the end of the gig, Draper threw his plectrums into the crowd, and one of them cut my friend’s eyelid (he was chuffed about it and kept said plectrum).

I wrote them a letter (remember those?!??) to tell them how great it was, and they sent me a signed poster and a signed 7inch vinyl of Stripper Vicar. For these things, I will always love them. First album is still fairly solid now, so yeah.

You would need a interface/mixing board for vocals/mic’d instruments, mics.

If anyone in the band has a helix or pod go or similar modeling pedal you could record guitars and bass through that.

A computer and a DAW, garage band, reaper, logic, protools and so on.

Depending on what you have you could do it for $250-$1000.
