Absolutely. People were able to put their music collections on their ipods. But the biggest thing was being able to access insane amounts of music that were potentially unavailable to you.
Imports, live versions, demos, out of print, or even too expensive. Suddenly you had access to things you wouldn’t believe. The biggest issue now for me is because there is this giant web of publishing restrictions albums I used to have are essentially gone. I had 15k+ songs on my old ipod, when that went i lost so many live concerts and stuff that wasnt sold in the US.

This was me, I transferred all my cds to my iPod, then went to the local library and got a bunch more to transfer. It was terrific.

Pharrell Williams was the bait for young kids to buy the album and go crazy over it.

Attack Of The Grey Lantern was a much under rated album. I had it in heavy rotation when I was at college/university, and managed to see them live a couple of times around the same time.
The arrangement on "The Chad Who Loved Me" is still a beautiful piece of music with the strings, the subtle acoustic guitar dropping in and then the lead electric guitar echo'ing the melody of the strings.
"Wide Open Space" is - for me at least - still one of the standout tracks of the 90s/BritPop era. To the point where it became massive across genres. As well as being a great indie guitar anthem, DJ Paul Oakenfold created the "Perfecto" remix of it which was massive in clubs at the time, especially Cream when he was resident there.

Good thing he’s got over 1000 pieces of music to choose from! FWIW, I once fell asleep at a Bach organ recital—it was that boring, and indeed no fugue-ing around.

The soundtrack to It Follows is full of gems.
Likewise the Silent Hill soundtracks have always been a fantastic source of creepy.

Sure, Toto, Dire Straits, but now try to add onto the list of the original post. I’m sure you’ll be surprised by how much longer you can make that list

I'm confused. Easier than what?
People were filling Walkman's and all of the various knock-offs with "free pirated music" in the 1980's.

Because many musicians have hearing damage from all of the loud concerts they've played over the years.
