Oh yeah. My friends and I would swap cd collections to rip. The dorms in college were awesome too—so many people with huge iTunes libraries.

I don't usually enjoy hip hop. There are some exceptions, but if you saw a picture of me, those exceptions would be painfully obvious.

Can't say I've heard of either of them. Is this an attempt to get their names to turn up on google?

I didn't, and probably should have. This is a stellar find but unfortunately is not it. It didn't vocals, nor any more instruments than I mentioned.

Reply to Why do you listen to sad music? by rusthd
Really sad music (like Barber's "Adagio"), triggers the Superiority Theory of thinking---that you are superior to the person doing the suffering. This also happens with other works of art----at least, after watching "Hamlet," you can say---well, at least my uncle didn't kill my father and marry my mother. So, you feel better. Same thing happens in comedy---at least I am not as geeky as the boys on "The Big Bang Theory." So,, I can laugh at them.

I think he and Norman Whitfield also wrote Wherever I Lay My Hat (That's My Home), which makes me think that song and Papa Was a Rolling Stone were maybe two sides of the same story.

The Hurdy-Gurdy! A medieval string instrument that was used in church music before pipe organs became more common. Never fails to capture my attention.

I still go to the local library and get CD’s and rip them into iTunes. Works like a champ.

Reply to Our research shows that musicians prefer to listen to music at higher levels than non-musicians by Upstairs_Location_26
I am a musician, the guitarist in our band insists that we practice very loud or the music doesn't sound right. We're not kids either- We are in our fifties. It literally got painful last weekend at practice and I decided I'm wearing ear plugs from now on when I practice with him.
