If you can find the Tosh.0 segment with Ice JJ Fish, it’s worth a watch.

> Musicians may listen to music at higher levels in order to hear the more nuanced musical aspects or may simply enjoy music more so than non-musicians and are therefore happy to listen to music at a higher sound level.
Makes sense. Many non-musicians just want the music loud enough so they can hear the lyrics. Musicians are interested in hearing the whole band. I don't necessarily want music to sound like a live concert or shake my body, but I do want to hear everything clearly.

This dude was one of the greatest lyricists in the history of soul music. Don't forget "Smiling Faces Sometimes" (Undisputed Truth).

The iPod had the same effect the iPhone has today: the cool factor. The ads with this cool af silhouettes, the clicky scrollwheel. The amount of storage it had and they way it was cooler than those cheap mp3 players everyone had.

People call Blind Melon a one hit wonder, though they had few hits here in Canada. Regardless, they have two incredible studio albums and one awesome posthumous collection of rarities (RIP Shannon). I'd say their first self-titled album is an 8/10 and their second is a 9/10, though I'd happily call both a 10 certain days of the week.
A great example I recently learned of was Bobby Charles, who wrote the hit song "See You Later Alligator", which is where that expression comes from, in the 1950's, and it was made famous by Bill Haley. But Bobby has an amazing album from 1972 just called Bobby Charles that is produced by Rick Danko (The Band) and features Dr John on keyboards, and (I'm 90% sure) all of the Band on other instruments throughout, which they weren't allowed to publicize because of record label stuff. But you can clearly hear Robbie's guitar, and Garth's organ and accordian in a few of the songs.
Anyway, that self-titled Bobby Charles album is one of the best and most underrated albums of the 70's, or any decade, and no one even knows his name because his one hit wasn't even made famous by him.

They both did a song together (“N***a I’m Happy”) 😂😂😂 but Earl is obviously more famous and a better artist. However if you listen to other people sing IceJJFish, his lyrics don’t sound terrible and he’s surprisingly lyrical.

From what I remember, Earl sweatshirt hung out with Tyler the creators crew, and released heavy lyrical rap songs. Ice JJ Fish (which btw my phone tried to correct ice to I've), he sounds like he likes fish sticks, and putting fish sticks in his mouth.
Edit: when I type "ice" into Spotify, Ice Cube, Ice Spice, Ice-T, Biggie, Ice Nine Kills, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, NWA, Easy-E, Vanilla Ice, Snoop Dog, and Drake all appear above Ice jFish.

It's not a debate. It's not subjective.
Earl Sweatshirt's biggest song on Spotify has over 100 million listens. Ice JJ Fish (who no one has ever heard of) only has one song over 1 million and it's less that 10 million.

I do it because the higher volume is closer to what it sounds like live. Volume is an element of a piece, just like tempo and key. It is part of the emotional impact intended by the artist.
