I’m only a fan of their older stuff. I’ll completely agree their last two albums every song was way too long.

Little River Band's Reminiscing mentions "the Porter tune Night and Day." Both classics now, from different eras.
Edit: another one. Bowie's Life on Mars? has the line "look at those cavemen go," echoing the line "look at that caveman go" in the Hollywood Argyles' Alley-Oop.

David Jones changed his last name to Bowie because he didn't want to be confused with Davy Jones from the Monkees.
Think of it as a chance to come up with a super cool name. Might I suggest Stevie Eagle.
But in all seriousness can you add a middle initial? Like mary j blige

And their "one hit" isn't even on their best album. Are We Not Men? is such a phenomenal album.

There will be much better examples but I get a kick out of the 5 Seconds of Summer song "End Up Here" where the singer hooks up with a pretty girl because she liked his Cobain shirt.

Can confirm. Sleeping in the van on tour is impossible. And I understand who's driving has to stay awake but fuck it's pounding. Punk rock 24/7 can split the skull lol. Sorry co workers.

No dude I love tool but I get not everyone will. They have creative lyrics and all that but so do other bands. Besides now days Tool fans are pretentious as all hell. Not that they weren’t already. But really it took me sitting down and actually figuring out what they could be saying before I enjoyed them.

If you like Kesha on rock music she also did a feature on a song by The Struts called Body Talks. Pure 80s glam rock camp and its wonderful

I can't speak to the pop arena, but in her country career, it was less about people "helping" her to write songs, and more about collaboration. She was at the very least an equal partner in her hits.
