Wall of Voodoo. “Mexican Radio” is the one hit, but every single song on The Dark Continent and Call of the West absolutely slaps.

¡Hola!

Best suggestion that I can give is to try and find bands that incorporate elements of their preferred genres. Might get some good results out of Nekrogoblikon, static x, or Powerman 5000.

Macklemore reminds me of when I lived in the PNW, any track off of Hot Fuss by the Killers takes be right back to high school.

Jaja, nice era to live, sometimes I would like to be born in the time in which Metallica, Megadeth, nirvana, mago de Oz, but then I remember that I was born in Colombia (Pablo Escobar and those problems)

GREAT question! It so often gets asked the other way. (It's a good question that way too, just overdone.) Disturbed's cover of "The Sound of Silence" got a lot of attention 7 or 8 years ago. Like a lot of people, I was blown away. It was powerful and raw. People said it had replaced the original. But for me it ended up being a one-play wonder. Once I'd heard it, I didn't need to hear it again. The unexpectedness was the hook. Once that was gone, the cover was much less interesting. I kept being drawn back to the Simon and Garfunkel original. It was quiet and gentle and yet somehow so powerful that it pushed the newer version aside and re-asserted itself as the ur-text.

The gateway drug into death metal? Melodic death metal. Most non-metal friends seem to enjoy Amon Amarth. Try some In Flames, Soilwork, Norther, Children of Bodom.
Folk metal (Eluveitie, Ensiferum, Alestorm) or 80s Glam/Hair metal could work too.
Try Ghost too, it's like ABBA with guitars. I mean, just listen to that intro.

I've been to Barcelona (Spain) a couple times, but this one song makes me miss a Barcelona that I don't even know.
