For The Record-The Bee Gees! Very comprehensive and complete. It even sheds new light on them as songwriters for other artists.

Badflower- a newer band that has only been around since the mid-late 2010s and have blossomed (pun intended) in popularity thanks to being spotlighted on SiriusXM's Octane station. They're not super heavy, but they're still very good. A lot of their songs are about mental health and can be emotional at times. They only have 2 albums out so they have a pretty easy discography to get into.
Fever 333- another newer band. These guys are INCREDIBLE live performers. I first saw them at a festival where I didn't know what to expect and they really set the standard and brought down the house for being the first band of the day. They've only gotten bigger and better since. If you like Rage Against the Machine, definitely check them out. They're kind of like a modern day version of Rage and you can hear Tom and Zach's influence in their songs.
My Morning Jacket- these guys have been around for a while now, but they're still very modern. They kind of have a psychedelic rock/jam band sound that's very popular with the Bonnaroo crowd. Their whole discography is pretty great and they experiment with a lot of new sounds. The song "Touch Me, I'm Going to Scream pt 2" is incredible and basically an acid trip through music. If you listen to nothing else by them, at least listen to that song.
I Prevail- this is a metalcore band that I've followed since the beginning of their career. They blew up with their cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space" and have released solid songs/albums ever since. They have 2 vocalists, one for "normal" singing and one for screaming/growling. Some of their songs have a rap element to them in the same vein as Linkin Park. I'd say they're pretty digestible for people who don't normally like metal. They've only released 3 albums so far, with the 2nd album being my personal favorite.
The Glorious Sons- these guys kind of have a southern rock vibe, even though they're a Canadian band. They got massive airplay on rock radio with their single "Sawed Off Shotgun", an upbeat song that constrasts with the dark message of the lyrics. They formed in the mid 2010s and have been on the rise ever since with each album charting higher than the previous one. They're definitely "one to watch" moving into the future.

I disagree. Hip hop IS modern jazz. Old Jazz is very restrictive. Almost every standard is based on the ii-V-I chord progression, and in 4/4. The instrumentation is very predictable, and since Charlie Parker, basically every jazz musician has the same way of phrasing. It’s a genre that is comprised mostly of melodic cliches that were established in the 40s and 50s. Jazz fans always want to hear the same shit at every gig. The only people who are pushing jazz forward are hip hop artists like madlib, Robert Glasser and terrace Martin. Don’t get me wrong, A Love Supreme is one of my favorite records of all time. But in 2023, hip hop is what Jazz turned into.

I’ve been getting increasingly obsessed with Burials since getting the record. It’s probably my 2nd favorite AFI album now after STS

My choice too. It somehow gave them more of a identity or sounded more cohesive than their individual albums up to that time.

Pretty much anytime I start listening to a new album and then realize I love it, I relisten to it on repeat for at least a month.
Random: Reading the comments, I have been noticing signs of ADHD in myself that I never knew were ADHD. I'm almost 34, never diagnosed, but wow, after a google, maybe this is something to discuss with a doc, haha. Thanks Reddit.

That was super run of the mill. His flow and delivery of the hugely autotuned lyrics was quite bland and nothing short of average.

I would say that is extremely common. I and most people I know do the same thing.
What gets kind of awesome is revisiting artists/albums as you get older, and the perspectives can change, usually for the better.

I do something similar after getting tired of shuffled song by listening to a band I like's entire discography in order and hearing them evolve as a band and give myself that band's vibe for a few hours or days, depending on their output and what I'm doing. Gives me a vibe/ a soundtrack for that time.
(Also, I have many time travel albums that bring me right back to specific times in my life that I listened to on repeat at that time)
